Re: Sensor Clusters

The card reads as follows: "When defending, you may spend a focus token to change 1 of your blank results into an (evade) result."

Can I spend additional focus tokens, one-at-a-time, to change additional blank results at a 1:1 basis?

Example: Poe (PS 8); who is equipped with Intensity; reveals a green maneuver, then uses BB-8 to perform a free barrel roll, and gains 1 focus token via Intensity. After performing the green maneuver, Poe performs a boost action, gaining an additional focus token via Intensity. Then, when defending, he uses his special ability to auto-change 1 focus result to an evade, and could spend up to 2 focus tokens to change 2 blanks to evades. Equipping him with Autothrusters would then be a way to "bank" a focus by changing a blank to an evade via their ability, and use it to flip Intensity at the end of the combat phase...or buff additonal dice, you know, because Autothrusters at range 3.

I've searched the FAQ, the only thing seeming similar is when Soontir Fel receives focus tokens when accruing stress. So...Is this a legal interpretation?

Nvm. Note to self: Slowly read cards.

No.

Once per opportunity prevents this.

As an aside, you would only be able to get the focus token via intensity once, as you would flip the card to the exhausted side before performing the maneuver. Poe could still use his action to focus though.

For completeness, it's worth noting that if you have two focus tokens and Sensor Cluster, you can spend a focus token for it's normal effect (convert Focus results to Evades) and the second focus token for Sensor Cluster's effect of turning a Blank to an Evade. Likewise with Weapons Guidance when attacking. Some Upsilon Shuttle builds use this technique (Recon Specialist, Weapons Guidance) to gain consistent attack dice.

And an interesting question regarding Upsilon Builds: Dows Hux's condition card block Sensor Cluster?

Yes. Fanatical Devotion simply says "When defending, you cannot spend Focus tokens". Why you're spending it doesn't matter.

It does also have the useful side effect that it stops Hotshot Copilot triggering - if facing a high PS ship with Hotshot Copilot, taking Fanatical Devotion on the shuttle is a good idea for this reason - the attacking effect is kind of useless (you'd rather hope with a 4-dice, modified attack, not to be relying on one unblockable hit!) but stopping someone yoinking your focus before you shoot is nice.
