Emo Kids

By Jazy Sweeney, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hi guys,

my current main deck is built around eDarth Vader (Dark Apprentice) and eKylo Ren (Vader's Disciple) it works quite well for me and can throw out a lot of damage and often gets it's specials, as I have not bought a lot of Destiny it is built with the best I have so I was looking for help/advice and was wondering what other cards I should be look out for to try in the deck and what other cards would work in the deck

here is my Emo Kids deck:

Characters

eDarth Vader (Dark Apprentice)

eKylo Ren (Vader's Disciple)

Battlefield

Emperor's Throne Room

Events

2x Intimidate

2x Enrage

2x Doubt

2x Isolation

2x Use The Force

2x Manipulate

2x Overconfidence

2x Rejuvenate

2x Take Cover

1x No Mercy

Supports

2x Power Of The Dark Side

Upgrades

1x Vibroknife

1x Datapad

1x Force Speed

2x Lure Of Power

2x Lightsaber

2x Immobilize

Explain the thought behind it why you left out holocron and how it play's. What you like about your build and where you think it may be weak.

Holocron is left out as I don't have any and I don't think it will be needed

it's an aggro deck with dice manipulation, it can put a lot of damge out each turn weather it be through melee or specials and I like Lure of Power as it can be used for extra damage or resources (as they are a bit on the low side with this deck) or anything else I roll and the dice manipulation is very useful and I like the risk/double edge sword of Anikan and Kylo's specials in that one does 3 damage at the cost of takeing a damage and the other could do nothing or lots of damage and every amount in between, what I think needs replacing are Lightsaber, Immobilize, Rejuvenate ,Take Cover and No Mercy

This is actually a much better emokids deck than almost any I've seen!

In my opinion, Holocron can be a huge mistake with this deck, because it's just so slow. Also, you need a lot of dice control (since your dice do plenty of damage, and you want to save your resources for dice with resource costs vs. buying tons of upgrades), so I like the events you picked.

If I made any changes, I'd take out Take Cover and Power of the Dark Side and find Makashi Training, a second Vibroknife, and Kylo's Lightsaber (or some copies of Crossguard Saber from the new core set).

thanks Kieransi , that's very helpful I know I need a second Vibroknife also a second Datapad and I will try to get hold of Makashi Training, and probably Crossguard Lightsaber over Kylo's as it's only cost 2 instead of 3 and can do a cheeky damage by putting it on Kylo

Coolstuffinc has singles at a good price. I like your build, I was just wanting to know the thought behind it. I'm a fan of the new 2 player set and think it has some good cards in it. I keep putting in and taking out Sith Holocron. They do seem slow and inconsistent but when they work it's amazing. I'm still trying to figure out effective builds myself

Regarding holocron, I usually will run either holocrons or It Binds All Things, depending on my strategy. And with the upgrades you have here, two It Binds All Things would be fantastic. It can really free up your resources for pay sides, and since all of your upgrades except vibroknives are blue, it's almost always useful. Trying to run both ends up in wasted resources and actions. And so the question becomes whether you're running a lot of blue abilities or if you have a mix. So my Palp deck has holocrons because my upgrades are all expensive abilities. My eVader/eKylo and my eDooku/eVentress decks run It Binds All Things because I use at least a mix of weapons, and they're usually low cost too. So it depends on your strategy. But from what I see here, It Binds All Things would be an awesome addition to your deck.

On Holocron, in general: Including it straight up makes your deck worse. It requires you to put in around 5 cards you wouldn't have run otherwise to make it reliable, and those are pretty much dead cards unless you hit Holocron. The only reason it's good is because the befit when you do hit it is ridiculously out of proportion to it's cost. At this point, I think that the only decks that should be running it are control decks, or those that need a boost in damage via running Mind Probe/Force Lightning. Anakin/Kylo is not a deck that need a boost in damage based around Holocron when it can just run more weapons and Makashi Training.

in regards to Holocron as I only run Lure of Power, Force Speed and Immobilize that are abilities and they are 2/0/2 cost so cheep enough without need for Holocron and Immobilize is dependent on opposing deck as to how useful it is and is often played then replaced a turn or 2 later for something else, also I will add It Binds All Things to the list to get hold of and try out

put who instead of how

Remember Emo decks probably have the best deck power for price out there. So stuff like holocron generally goes against why this deck is good, low price.

I think you are right, an action to play Holocron, an action to roll it's dice, an action to resolve specials and a resource to pay to roll in the dice isn't all that great when you are only playing 2 cost upgrades. Where you can play the upgrade and roll in it's dice for just 1 resource more and one less action. The down side is that two resources means you will not be able to play the dice removal cards until you get more, but that can be played around a little.

I wonder if adding more cards that can ensure you pull off those 3 damage sides on the dice you have is better than adding more 3 damage sides to the dice you roll? I think this may pose an even more interesting question in EaW for those characters with high damage sides.

Just a heads up, Lure of Power isn't an ability, so you can't play it using Holocron.

your right it's just an upgrade and as I don't use holocron any any way it's not a issue so which means with two i mmobilize to be replaced at some point hopefully with ancient lightsaber (when EaW comes out) or crossguard lightsaber the other will replace lightsaber is what I'm thinking and another data pad and vibroknife may get added if i get them that leaves 1 forcespeed (2 maybe if I get another) meaning there is no reason for me to run holocron in the deck

In case it helps, this is my current decklist:

Character: (30/30)
2x Kylo Ren (Awakenings)
2x Darth Vader (Spirit of Rebellion)

Battlefield:
1x Emperor’s Throne Room (Awakenings)

Event: (18)
2x Anger (Spirit of Rebellion)
1x Feel Your Anger (Awakenings)
2x Enrage (Awakenings)
2x Isolation (Awakenings)
2x Overconfidence (Spirit of Rebellion)
1x Mind Trick (Awakenings)
2x Lightsaber Throw (Spirit of Rebellion)
2x Doubt (Spirit of Rebellion)
2x Rejuvenate (Spirit of Rebellion)
2x Clash (Two-Player Set)

Support: (2)
2x Command Shuttle (Spirit of Rebellion)

Upgrade: (10)
2x Makashi Training (Spirit of Rebellion)
2x Vibroknife (Spirit of Rebellion)
1x Lightsaber (Awakenings)
1x Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber (Awakenings)
2x Crossguard Saber (Two-Player Set)
2x Lure of Power (Spirit of Rebellion)

Edit: forgot Lure of Power. It's not a great deal for doing damage, but it can be a lifesaver when used with Kylo's resource side on his dice. That's why that one's in there.

Edit: stupid tiny iPhone screen!

Thanks, Vader71!

Hey Kieransi , how are you playing Force Misdirection in a villain deck? It's Hero only, I believe.

Oops, so it is. I meant Mind Trick. That's what I get for using a squadbuilder that's normally a desktop site on my phone! :P

I feel ya, but it would be cool to use Force Misdirection in villain. Hero has some cool tricks, but they just don't compare to the overwhelming firepower of villains. Flavorful, yes, but fair? Not so much. But that is a whole other subject...
