Three Faces of Kylo Ren: Ideas on build possibilities

@Boom Owl

I was practicing against Nym/Miranda so their ideal plan is to stay apart so it was quite easy. However, today's game has shifted more and more to turrets making it crucial for some builds such as Nym/Miranda, Dash/Poe, RAC/Ace, Dengar/Nym, etc to spread out and Focus firing by using their 360's. This on top of the ability to see the entire board state at PS9 and below with initiative bid can make it quite easy to happen. It's not something you force. But you keep it in mind when planning the next couple moves.

@Biophysical

Lets say one of the generics is 29 pts.

Id fly this all day based on looks alone.

Kylo Ren (TIE Silencer) — TIE Silencer 35
Push the Limit 3
Advanced Sensors 3
Primed Thrusters 1
Autothrusters 2
First Order Vanguard 2
Ship Total: 46
First Orde??? — TIE Silencer 29
Fire-Control System 2
Primed Thrusters 1
Autothrusters 2
Ship Total: 34
"Countdown" — TIE Striker 20
Lightweight Frame 2
Adaptive Ailerons 0
Ship Total: 22

I like that, because the two Silencers are fairly durable, and normally that 3rd ship will fold, but Countdown won't. 9 dice final salvo isn't total trash, either. Obviously not as good as FSR, but it's within a stone's throw.

Next question: what are the best partners for a PS9 Kylo when dealing with the inevitable PS10 Nym?

RAC is a proven choice because if his PS, turret, and crit generation ability. A couple of TLT Aggressors could wear Nym down while he's chasing down Kylo, minimum 3 turns, though. I'm eyeing 2 Ion Cannon equipped Gunboats, as well. This provides a pretty large region of control where Nym can't go, and they're tough enough to take a couple bombs. Time and more reveals will tell if they have enough other tools.

I'm liking the idea of imperial mango Kath with rebel captive and Andresa bomblets. Ion/linked battery gunboat pairs also look interesting.

If Linked battry is "small ship or imperial only", though, have you considered a pair of Heavy Space Cows? 21 OGP+2 LB+1 Electronic Baffle is only 24 points for what is almost a 4 die primary.

I think Nym won't actually be a huge problem for Kylo, but yes the list will need a way to deal with Nym. Six health plus the crazy maneuverability means that the times he'll get a good bomb off on Kylo will be less and they're are still bomblets with average of 1. As long as his partner can handle Nym while Kylo takes care of the other half he's fine. PS11 Vader seems like a good option. Throw Wampa as the third ship.

I took Poe to a tournament this past weekend, Intensity/BB-8/Title/Comm Relay/Autothrusters and considering he didn't die even once in 4 games, it's pretty good. The reposition ability just on the greens is amazing. Kylo's repositioning ability is going to be 10 times as good as BB-8 Poe. Kylo's gonna be a beast!

Yeah, I think this is right. BB8/Intensity Poe has the huge advantage of actually doing good damage, not just point fortressing. Kylo will have that same solid damage output (focus/TL, almost always in R1 if you want to be), while being a lot more maneuverable.

One thing that is overlooked right now are the generics. Since kylo at ps 9 clocks in at 35 points, it may very well be that the ps 6 has an ept and clocks in at 31 pts. Adding crack shot and fcs would make an excellent ship, if the dial is as great as we think itll be (/fo dial with speed 3 segnors and talon roll???). If... and that is a big if... its is 30 points, it would be possible to field 3 with crackshot and fcs. A big if, but not impossible, considering ps1 x7 defenders are 28 points.

Remember that the difference between PS8 poe and PS9 poe is 2 points, not 1. If they keep that jump consistant, a 30 point PS6 isnt unreasonable... and if the PS4 has an EPT at 28, I wouldnt be opposed to a "royal guard" jump to PS6 at 29.

Well, glaives are 34 points, 32 as x7.

Let's see: Glaives have a white K, one more shield at one less hull, same ps, free evade on speed 3+ ... 30 isn't too much to hope, even 29, I agree. I'd put my money on 30, though, and wouldn't dismiss 31, since ffg hates empire generics :D (see striker, tie adv. prototype...)

Generic strikers actually are showing up, though, as cheap 3 red platforms. ("Heavy swarm" architype, along with autoalpha intercepters, Mango Cartel spacers and 5K-fighter)

I must apologize, I was unprecise: I was talking about the veteran generic with ept, namely Baron of the Empire and Black Squadron Scout. I doubt you will see those in the wilderness, considering Countdown (same price) is just so much better.
