More campaigns

By Kalic89, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm not entirely sure what the response to the Corellian Conflict was but I got one really enjoyed it.

Id love more like this to be released but maybe with upgrade cards, like new commanders and ship titles. We could see a Batonn insurgence campaign where we have fleet admiral Dural as a commander and a pre promotion Admiral Thrawn as a captain. New rebel commanders like Nightswan (all taken from the Thrawn book)

we could have a Lothal campaign where we see a commander variant of Hera and Ezra

another thing I'd like to see is a campaign with a focus, where we see the rebels trying to achieve something like getting information on project Stardust by completing various missions with specialist objectives like hit and run missions or attacking. One where the empire player starts with an overwhelming force and we see a rebel commander trying to unite the rebel cells and as the campaign goes on the rebel player gets access to new ships like the MC75 and MC 80.

Sorry to just splurge ideas out I'm sure many people do. The thing I'd like to see is more campaign packs being used to get more upgrades and variety into the game, especially ship titles.

anyone else want to jump in with ideas or discuss potential upsides or downsides of this

A Lothal campaign would be great!

I'd love a campaign with new ship titles and a commander! As long as they don't pull off something crazy, any type of scenario is good for me! From Batonn to Jakku, as long as it's not exactly the same as CC with a new map and upgrades

Maybe im minority, but I wouldnt even mind an almost-a-copy-with-a-new-map of the correllian conflict like once a year if it came with new objectives. I dont really even need the other stuff, but some way to continually introduce new objectives is practically a necessity.

Yes

This is something I was disappointed with regarding this year. I was, and am still, hoping for a campaign. I also think that new objectives and new ship cards would be great. The new ISD suggests that we won't get new ship cards/cardboard in a campaign.

Agreed.

I think asymmetrical special objectives might also be fun. Like a small fleet providing cover for an escaping ship, etc.

I like that idea, like protect the ship with your commander on until it has calculated the jump to hyperspace (6 turns). Have a set up with with player 1 in the middle of the play area and player 2 can set up anywhere within range 3 of the play area edge. Player 2 can take an additional 100pts of fleet assets.

What of the Rebel fleet gathering at Sullust? Endor campaign!

Whoa Super Laser!!! "Fire at will, Commander!" exciting

Forgot to mention Death Star

My [optimistic] prediction is that at some point we will get a new campaign for some epic-type of play, akin to X-wing, complete with a SSD. Included would be new ship titles rather then new squads.

The campaign might be linked scenarios more scripted the the previous campaign, but still with persistent fleets and bonuses and penalties depending on the outcomes of battles. Rebels doing rebellious things to impede the Empire and expand their arsenal, and the Empire generally defending assets and striking back.

The plot could revolve around the construction of a SSD, with Sabotage missions, resource acquiring missions, etc. Success or failure helps determine the final load-out of the SSD, among other things.

The finale would be the completion of the SSD, with a rebel group desperate to destroy it, paralleling Endor on a smaller scale.

Even better would be if the campaign was done as a Legacy style game, with the unfolding plots and objectives revealed to certain parties over time.

Anyway, I can dream...

I'd be a happy camper if the annual releases were a ship per faction and a campaign pack. Ship variants and titles, a new map, maybe some different campaign abilities (diplomats are useless) and I'm good to go.

I agree with this completely.

Yes, I'd also prefer campaigns that were much like CC but each with something extra or different. Like one with a little more strategic and logistic considerations, another where the Empire is expanding into the region, maybe one with a light, progressive story element (objectives that get "unlocked" over time, or something).

I've been trying to put together a narrative campaign. But I've run out of creative steam.

Would love for any of you fine folks to jump in with any ideas. :)

CC was great, and new campaigns would be great for several reasons.

It adds a lot of new flavor and a whole new way to enjoy the game. The biggest thing for me though is that it is a great way to add new content to existing units. Instead of selling repainted ships with new cards, they could do what they did for fighters in CC and give us some new material to refresh old units. The campaign boxes are a great way to fix or adjust elements of the game.

A work-in-progress campaign system that I'm vaguely still working on: http://kdyards.com/articles.view.php?id=511

I just read it. It seems awesome!

What do you mean 'vaguely'? Are you flagging? Why?

I have several dozen irons in twice in many fires, is all. For one I need to make a galaxy map.

The Rebellion map could work as a stop gap for you. It's divided into sectors with 4 planets each (I think) in them.

Isn't that just selecting an area of the galaxy you want from a preexisting image, then adding the planetary bonuses?

Pretty much, I had thought of doing something more like the CC map with nodes, but I really should stop delaying and making the frickin' map already.

I also could use some beta testers to see if the campaign bonus cards work okay.

So what about this: Star Wars Galaxy Map

It has sectors, hyperspace lanes, etc.

Or this: Yet Another Map

Which is basically the same, but the sectors are more obvious?

I'm sure you've already thought of these, but just in case, I'm putting them here.

I would've loved to be a tester for your cards (I enjoy all aspects of creating a campaign) but alas I have nobody else with whom I could play them out. . . I could try to play out a campaign against myself I guess. . . at the very least I could read them and give you an opinion. . . would you be alright with that? If so I'd be happy to take a look at the cards.

I'll have a look at those maps when I get home and see what I can come up with.

I also could create a TTS mod for the campaign system, for those who want to go with internet play.

as for the campaign cards: http://kdyards.com/misccards.php?mt[]=4 there we go :)

@Democratus , @FoaS , anyone else...

Want to team up to try and push out a campaign? I've been toying with some ideas as well, and maybe together we could actually finalize something. Either organizing it on the forums or wherever.

I'm up for it. I love making campaigns (not that I'm particularly great at it or anything).
