He may not be known on these parts, but the guy has around 600k subscribers and is a youtuber I respect a lot. The video he did on Armada is actually pretty great, comprehensive and complete, I suggest watching it!

Very good actually.
I love that dude! Watched a lot of his Kerbal Space Program videos.
Wait, Scott Manley the KSP guy?
This, I must watch...
Also, He has an Addenum to it that mentions Cannot Get Your Ship Out:
I need to get that Oakland shirt for my next Armada vacation.

Hope he doesn't scare future players by talking about expense. All wargames are expensive, and I personally don't think Armada compares too poorly to 40k or even to X-Wing, when you look at actual cost to invest in the game beyond initial starter set.

I agree. I have found this to be a much cheaper game to get into long term. I still am yet to buy any Imperial ships. I have spent much more on X Wing then I ever will Armada. also with Armada you don't have to buy another ship to make the ship you want to fly competitive

If Armada is more expensive than 40k, Mr. Manley clearly hasn't been collecting multiple factions over several editions! ![]()

Expensive compared to 40k or other miniature games? No. But keep in mind that Armada isn't strictly for that crowd. It brought in a lot of new blood to miniature gaming. A lot of that new blood hasn't experienced the price shock of miniature games.
X-wing and Armada sitting on a shelf look like a neat board game, and the prices aren't too bad. Until you get it home, play a couple games, realize that you can't even play a full game without dropping another couple hundred, and if you want any chance at playing the 'full' game or in tournaments, you have another $1000 to go!
I think the bigger offense would be telling everyone how great the game is and not mentioning the cost issue at all. Get people excited only to burn them after they buy the core box and realize they only have a fraction of what they need.
