Positive Outlook of the New Preview

After skimming through 8 pages of mostly (not all, but mostly) negative comments, before we even know everything about the ships to add, I figured I should start a new thread to talk about how cool the new previews are and say other positive things instead haha.

I happened to read through the preview before going through the thread and am actually pretty excited about the new ships.

I think Kylo Ren looks awesome! Being able to PTL barrel roll/boost before executing your maneuver makes you immune to blocking, able to avoid bombs (even Nym's if you take VI) and becomes the ultimate Arc-dodger. Kylo as a pilot is going to be able to react additionally to Nym by turning him into a 0 pretty quick. Very cool stuff!

Is this not what Imperial players have been wanting for so long? My wife who plays aces exclusively and hates bombs is really looking forward to this and I'm looking forward to trying to get a bead on this new ace. Also really curious to see what the new upgrades all do! Awesome!

The bomber looks really solid too, not crazy broken which is good, but brings some new cool bomb action out without breaking the game. And if Nym wants to take the TS then he has to lose another critical option. Classic systems upgrade forcing one to choose from the best upgrades.

All in all it seems like a longer ranged K-wing minus the turret spot and really curious to see what the formation and defensive plating upgrades do. Could be what pushes this bomber into competitive territory.

After waiting to find out which TLJ ships would make it into a set I'm happy to see there is a new super arc dodger and an intersting completely new design long-range bomber coming out.

Hope this post doesn't become the same mess of negativity as the last one. But my wife, playgroup and I are definitely enjoying the game and looking forward to the new ships! Great job FFG, now release the FAQ to ease the tensions hahaha

B/SF with 4 proton bombs for 7 points. (+1 to launch it at speed 5 foreward.)

My only complaint is the lack of representation for BB-9E, but he might have been a victim of the same lack of communication that cost the Striker its bomb and crew slots, and the U-wing its side gun.

Tie silencer looks like a sweet ship for imps. The title gives it predator-ish ability without taking its EPT and opens system slot for more than FCS. It has a boost for autothrusters, something the defender and SFs lack, along with 6 HP. Its close to brobot-ness on a small ship. As a mainly imp player/fan, im very excited for the ship. Should be a beast on tables.

They're all hiding out with the TIE silencer's missiles.

I wonder if you can stack enough bonus-action type cards to run Kylo with VI to beat Nym's PS. Kylo + VI + FCS + Advanced Op? (the focus Comm Relay) could be good.

If it fits the pattern for previous FO ships, it will probably have enough greens to make not taking PtL seem a little silly, though.

VI+FCS+Focus Relay or VI+AdvSens+Focus Relay seem to be the most likely builds.

ASPTL will be hella fun especially with Primed, but limits you to PS9.

Maybe enough of these will be run that the threat of PS 10 Kylo Ren the Crit-powered PS Hunter will start pushing the PS Wars away for more interesting EPTs

except that at no point has BB-9E been said to attach to fighters? we're told the first order uses astromechs to maintain their ships, but consider that the film will have Finn and the new lady sneaking into a FO site.. BB-9E might be part of a large ship or base repair crew. much like what R2-D2 did on Amidala's yacht in Ep1, or what the Empire uses astromechs for in Rebels.

But astromechs belong in starfighters!

except when they are doing maintence or navigation duty on starships, cruisers, Death Stars, Rebel bases, imperial bases, first order bases, Resistence bases, escaping capture on desert planets, being eaten or stolen, ect.

It appears to give a defensive buff when at Range 1-2 of other "Resistance somethings"...

Now, seeing as "Resistance Bomber" is not its codified ship name (that's "B/SF-17 Bomber") I'm left thinking it'll refer to "Resistance (sub-faction) ships" - which would be the first instance of not referring to them as part of the overall Rebel faction.

Will there be at huuuge jumping to conclusion that this could this be a precursor to the long debated faction splitting.

It could be argued that the Ep 8+ ship variety is reaching the critical mass required to sustain stand-alone factions - but the volume of errata required to align crew and other cards to their respective Resistance and First Order factions would be hideous.

Instead, this could simply be a way to encourage themed list building by era-matching squad-mates to the B/SF-17.

I think the new wave looks pretty fun. Definitely grabbing three of the TIE Silencer and two of the Resistance Bomber. Odd that there isn't a third ship... have we gotten 2 ship waves before? (maybe some random SCUM or the Resistance A-Wing they're keeping secret for now?)

The silencer feels like it is at the power level of the game back in wave 7.5. The only complaint that I have about it in that respect is that Kylo should seriously have changed his ability, since it's both not very useful on the current platform of a 3/3/4/2 ship, and it's doubling down on the non-fun that is Kylo for your opponent (I feel really bad ISYTDSng people, since they don't get to play with their biggest ship for 2-3 turns, which usually kills it). If Kylo's ability was something that was actually designed to work with his ship, as opposed to against it, I'd be much happier.

The bomber is in a similar boat- If it came out in wave 7.5 I'd have no problem with it. It's interesting mechanically, etc. My issue is the fact that the current bomb-centric meta only gets more toys to play with from this thing, and we can see more bombs on the board.

If there was some massive (targeted) nerfing to the current problem cards in the game tomorrow, I'd be all on-board, preordering 2 of each. Now, I'm tepid with the state of the game.

(Biggs, Adv. Slam, TLT, Guidance Chips, Bomblet Generator, Mindlink, Jumpmasters, Deadeye Scurrgs, Cruise missiles, Harpoon missiles, R3-A2, K4, Cad Bane on Jumps, Regen, Unhittable Soontir, and Kylo all need to be toned down)

Exactly - There's been a few 'sky is falling' wails of this with Nym + Bomblet + Sabine, but Nym + Bomblet + Cad is nasty too.

Nevertheless - seen Nym swiftly burnt down enough times already to not join the chorus of doom-sayers.

it's a 5 ship wave. Remember the gunboat, chemo-gilla, and phantom II?

In the article, the Silencer and the Bomber are referred to as wave 13.

Yep, that sounds about right. I hope the Silencer has a kick butt mid range generic for epic play, but that price point might keep me out of the squad building market with this one. . .

I strongly suspect a Scum ship is the missing 3rd. Maybe Maz gets a ship. A-Wing would be nice, though.

With an "early 2018" release estimate versus Wave 12's "fourth quarter 2017".

That's a fair comment based on long term trends - but haven't the last couple of releases hit their originally quoted target dates?

Wave 11 was close, but still over the line into the next quarter by like two weeks or so.
