You are making the hugely erroneous assumption that Disney are going to stop producing Star Wars films.

they are not going to stop, ever. They will be pushing out product until it makes no money at all.

Expect to see an endless procession of terribly conceived prequels and the unwanted stories of fringe characters.

Expect a prequel trilogy of the third Jawa on the right, its trials, its tribulations, its marginal interaction with a Skywalker in passing.

And some contrived reason how it's pointless death saved Endor.

or something.

I so want to see that film about the third jawa on the right. Do you have any more spoilers?? ??

I am against this idea. I love new ships, I will buy every new expansion that comes out (for my faction).

Fixed your post.

Two TIEs and two bombers please.

But we don't have the N-1 Naboo starfighter yet. The FFG X-wing train has no brakes.

Disney are the masters of keeping product alive and keeping people excited for it. Like those animated movies they have from 50+ years ago that everyone still enjoys.

Also GUNBOAT so who cares about wave 13+

This.

Release schedule is fine. As for the new stuffs the only thing that has my eyes rolling is the system card in the bomber, because the forums are going to explode again when somebody slaps it on nym.

X-wing 2.0 is on the horizon and FFG is trying to milk all of our money for this game before they make us repurchase ALL of the ships all over again for the new cards, abilities, and base plates when X-wing gets its inevitable reboot.

The news is fast but the ships arent. They release news 4 months in advance so you dont get bored and jump....ship. Instead you get excited about ships to fly in 4 months and continue playing and buying expansions that you can fly with the gun boat, or tie silencer, more efficiently.

If you love new ships so much, do the proper thing and buy one of everything like you should :P

My faction my butt :P

OMG, what is with you "3rd jawa on the right" people. Everyone knows it is the 2nd jawa on the left that is truly awesome.

This is litterally the same release schedule we've had for the past two years. Of course, people complained about, "The fire hose," the last two years as well, so I'm not surprised some people are overwhelmed again.

Exactly. And how many people buy more than a couple of each model? I'm nuts and I only spent a few hundred bucks since the beginning of the year; I just checked my CoolStuff account. And that includes 3 C-ROCs. $25-50 a month doesn't seem like much to me for a hobby. And it is a lot healthier than cigarettes.

Sorry. That factor has already been considered. It still leaves me feeling meh about the Resistance bomber. I'm having a hard time picturing it in a dog fight, unlike the majority of other vessels in the game. The one shot I've seen of them in action made it seem like they were some sort of dreadnaught style ship.

Only on this forum do you get people correlating putting out more product as a sign the game is going to die...

Mind boggling.

Technically Wave 13 is coming next year.

The last single-ship packs that FFG put out were in Wave 10, with the Upsilon and U-Wing back in February.

what? scuurg, auzituck, agressor

I meant to say, "$30+ single ship packs." Both wave 11 and wave 12 were all $15-$20.

No need to be obnoxious.

So.. did anyone say the Star Wars franchise was going bust? Or just it's intersection with FFG?

I mean, yes. Obviously. That's what is going to happen.

Are we ignoring the story group, which (as demonstrated by the clone wars cartoon which gave a bit of depth to the prequels, rebels which is really shaping up to be a good series, rogue one which made a good story out of a crazy suicide mission) is trying to go back to the roots of star wars and avoid Lucas controlling the vision of it?

I mean, nobody but Disney (woooh the big bad villain!) would ever make pointless backstory about tiny characters who have no implication on the plot but then appear in other stuff later on. Nope .

See, I don't get people's aversion to seeing a smaller (even bit) character expanded. That's one of the things I love about Star Wars! The cantina scene in ANH? Filled with characters we never see again in the movies, yet someone took the time and energy to give most of them names and backstories, enhancing the feeling of this being a living world rather then just a set with extras.

Heck, when the T-70 pilots showed up in TFA, I didn't know their names, but I knew they would have names and full back stories in the not too distant future. And look at them now. Snap Wexley has an in depth background and connection to older characters, and Jess Pava isn't far behind.

Developing smaller characters can only enrich a world by showing that while our focus is on someone else, the world is filled with individuals dealing with their own problems and trying to do their best, just like we would.

Seriously, just stop, their is no need for you to force out so many ships and expansions in a single year. Not only are you producing material faster than you could ever test and balance it you are draining future potential from the game. I for one would love to see this game last for years to come, but that's never going to happen if you keep pushing this hard.

Somebody recently expressed a similar feeling in the x-wing wikia, so I checked, and the release progression is like this (not counting Epic releases and reprints):

2013 has seen 8 new ships.

2014: 6 new ships.

2015: 9 new ships.

2016: 10 new ships.

2017: 9 new ships so far (6 released +3 announced). Wave 12 will contain some more ships from the new film (EDIT: Oh yeah, there they are, hadn't seen those yet), but it seems unlikely they'll make it in time for this year (the same way three Wave 10 ships announced in August 2016 were released not before February 2017).

So there's been some degree of increase in the numbers of releases, but not much. I think the feeling of accelerated rate comes from the fact that between March 2016 and February 2017 three full waves came out, for a total of 14 new ships. But I don't think they're going to do three waves per year, I think 2017 will only have two, and Wave 11 was just three ships, making it the smallest since Wave 6.

The latest announcement was predictable, and - although a week later than expected, predicted. We're not seeing anything new in terms of announcements and release speeds than we've seen in the last three years.

All this has happened before, and will happen again.

I'm another of those who gets excited for and then enjoys each new wave (even Imperials, which I never play) as it brings new potential line-ups for both me AND my opponents, keeping things fresh.

I don't play in tournaments (but do play weekly) and the local players here aren't into heavy-meta, so there is a lot of cycling through different ships and tactics.

that said - don't love $30 for a small base ship, but if this is an aberration rather than a new business model, I'm still OK with it.

new ships! New challenges! Fun!

I'm outta likes right now, but I'll be back to like this later.

It's good to see that there is love out there for the Resistance Bomber. Thanks for sharing. :)

I was hoping that the Tie Silencer would be a large base ship with Agressor like stats. Oh well :(

Well, I mean...a ship with a boost and barrel roll gets a big advantage by being on a 'large' base instead of a 'small' base.

And this release is an Imperial ship.

So obviously that wasn't going to happen...
