BB-9E

By j_man_04, in X-Wing

With the upcoming film featuring the BB-9E , I was wondering if it could make an appearance in the X-Wing game alongside the TIE Silencer. If I'm not mistaken, the Lego Silencer set will have BB-9E with it.

So, any thoughts on the Silencer having an astromech slot or what ability would the BB-9E have?

If so, that opens the door for a cross faction ETA-2!

Yeah, the curious thing is the astromechs don't have the "rebel-only" limitation because so far they've been the only faction with them.

So, They'll either need to create a third astromech category, allow cross-factions, or come up with a "TIE Silencer only" limitation on the droid somehow (title? You may equip BB-9E).

Personally, I wouldn't mind cross faction. You could make the case that the First Order reprogrammed the droids to follow their orders. Not a hard sell on me.

Maybe Kylo's new ride has a spacious cockpit with plenty of room for his droid buddy to roll around. I doubt any FO ships will get mech slots. Still holding out for an Eta-2 for imperials with a title that allows Astromech slot for non-unique (generic) only mechs.

Vader in a ship with a natural boost action would be a dream come true.

The Revell build-and-play model has a pretty large amount of space inside. The small Kylo is also around the same size as the U-Wing pilots in that kit from a year ago, and the two models are about the same size. I know the U-Wing is small for a large-base, but the Silencer seems kinda big. If any of the missing SKU were 19.95, it'd make sense for me for the Silencer to be a bigger small-base ship.

So it's pretty big, but still small base.

30 dollar 'medium' base ship. That thing looks as big as the IG2000. Easily Punisher sized. This proves that determining base size for a certain class of ships is totally arbitrary, and might depend on how badly FFG wants to screw over the ship. Poor U-Wing, no excuse for U to be large base.

Welp, article out. Doesn't look like BB-9E will be included.

There's a droid that looks just like BB-9E in the new Captain Phasma comic. They didn't state its designation, but the shape is pretty obvious. It rides along in a TIE/sf with Phasma and pilot TN-3465. (Future First Order Ace?)

sad beep

keep in mind that plugging into starfighters is not the only thing Astromech droids do. they also do repairs to the inside and outside of the large ships (see RS-D2 on Amidala's yacht.. or R2-D2 aboard the Falcon.) the Galactic Empire used them for that, and as couriers of messages and data (see several episodes of Rebels)

since we know that Finn and the one lady will be sneaking into a First Order facility (see the trailers, where we see Finn in FO officer garb), the odds are good BB-9E will show up there.

they are just using him in advertising because he's evilly cute, and the more they can focus on him, the less they have ot focus on things they don't want to spoil.. like plot, or major scenes. the same reason they focused so much on BB-8 before TFA
