Twin Troopers: Chewbacca and Wookie Avenger

By dietz057, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Great article as usual! Perhaps the most impressive part is that you may have managed to do the impossible, finding a somewhat legitimate use for Hera's command card :P

I listened to the Chewie and Han episodes right before their updates were leaked. Needless to say, I've been looking forward to these articles! Quality stuff as always.

Given that the iconic figures have been more or less noncompetitive, I have always gravitated to the Merc (even before Jabba's Realm) and Imperials. With these changes, I can't help but want to run Han and Chewie, and maybe with a little Leia, Luke (either one), and/or Obi.

@dietz057, as I've always written off Guardian CCs, Guardian Stance confuses me a bit on your use case. Given that it has the Guardian trait, wouldn't a guardian have to be the one to play it. In other words, in order for Chewie to get the benefit, another figure would have to play the card when they are adjacent to Chewie? Or is Chewie considered adjacent to Chewie and can therefore play the card on himself?

Chewie can play Guardian Stance when a friendly figure adjacent to him is defending. Rerolling defense (perhaps white) or attack die/dice (to reduce accuracy), or everything for hoping less symbols is pretty good... Better than Raider, anyway.

(And a figure is not adjacent to itself.)

A figure is not considered to be adjacent to itself (pg 4 RRG) so the play here would be that a figure defending while adjacent to Chewie could reroll their defense die but as @dietz057 said, Hard to Hit is the same thing for cheaper. I think the value here (which could possibly justify the 1-point cost) is the option to make the attacker reroll a die instead, which could lessen the damage or potentially make them whiff on range. For added fun, if you don't get the result you want, throw Tough Luck on that rerolled die and call it a day.

@dietz057 After rereading (and seeing your edit), I see I was misinterpreting what you had wrote. All cleared up now :)

I really appreciate the insight you bring in these articles!

+1 for Hera evacuating a guy, then chewie full in rage and everyone try to explain the wookie that the guy is still alive without success

He'll understand after he's ripped all the enemies' arms off.

I still haven't gotten my mind around Chewie's new cost (unlike Han, whom I'm all in on), but you've got me itching to try him out! Thanks for another great article!
