Irma

By GrandAdmiralCrunch, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm sure most of you are aware that there is a historically powerful Hurricane tearing through the Caribbean and heading for a direct hit on Florida. It is larger than the state and looks to roll straight up the center.

I know there are a number of Armada players down here who are either heading north or hunkering down. Let's hope it will pass quickly and with minimal loss to our comrades.

This is Jacksonville checking in.

Stay safe... and may the force be with you

Good luck guys and may the force be with you all.

Safety first.

Things can be replaced, you can't.

Find shelter somewhere sturdy and dry, duck and cover , and let the storm do it's thing.

I have a couch in New Jersey if anyone needs a place to sleep for a few days. Obviously that's a **** of a drive, but it's there.

I'd offer mine in Atlanta but they've already been claimed by other evacuees. If someone wants the escapism of a game in Atlanta, Gigabites in Marietta usually has folks Sunday afternoon, and tomorrow is Armada at Quest Comics in Carrollton. Stay safe.

Irma is forecasted to run into Atlanta by several models. By then it should be a tropical storm, but still.

It's supposed to be a particularly bad thunderstorm by the time we feel it. Houses shouldn't swept away like dust bunnies and mobile homes won't be torpedoes into Zoo Atlanta. Thunderstorms we can handle. It's ice storms that get us.

I am near Ft. Myers, and it looks like I'm taking a direct hit, as is my buddy @Destraa . We are riding the assault proton torpedoes all the way to target. Wish us luck.

Hope everyone who is staying, hunkers down and stays safe. I have a brother in Coral Gables and my Bro-in-law lives in Hollywood. Good luck to all Floridians!

I hear if you drop them into the eye of the storm it will cause a catastrophic chain of events that will destroy the hurricane.

This. I know no one says it will, but this

Stay safe out there everyone!

Good luck to those riding it out. I've got a friend living in Jupiter FL and he's ready to fire up his BBQ and more or less party through it.

And this (late) morning for people.

Regrettably Staying on Target.

Yes, but speed has slowed down from 12 to 9.

Basicaally, these things don't turn on a dime, but she's turning... (Note, the link image provided automatically updates)

I hope everyone north of Florida keeps their eyes on this and stay safe as well. Riding up the gulf coast will keep it stronger for longer.

Yep.

I mean, its a here-or-there threat.

On one hand, if it goes more westward, the eye travels over water, it moves over the warmer gulf bay waters, and picks up more steam while doing so. Which means although parts of Central Florida are spared the closest most devastating eyewall shears... But it hits the mainland higher and lasts longer after doing so...

Barelling right up through Florida does more directly to florida, but peters it out quicker... Effectively sacrifice-playing Florida to take a hit for the rest of the Southern States in the long run.

At least Jose at the least is slinging to get lost in The Triangle and not hit anyone else other than grazing the Antilles at the moment.

Katia was a bully, picking on an area just smacked with an Earthquake.
