My question is why do you need to be orientated laterally for space flight? Especially seeing as the engines are at the back of the ship.

True. But we know from the movie that they are oriented laterally in space flight.
It occurs to me that if the MC75 has an ordnance slot, it'd be a great Sato enabler. With a weapons team it's not bad already. But sticking APT or ACM on it would just take the cake.

Ships always have command dials. Vanilla fleets are going to laugh on Vader.

I know it's not mine to answer but... I suppose that would depend on the amount of damage already inflicted?
A.)If your ship is out of shields or has lost it's brace and you're really not able to use more than one token per attack... then GTs seams the best idea.... at least then it's not spreading that hurt around.
B.)If your ships are fresh, lose that mon karren, they'll stay fresh longer
