Mon Remonda is a MC80B ;)

Galactic Voyager , Ackbar's flagship after Home One , was one of the first MC90s. The 80Bs look like Liberty 's molded onto shovels, the 90s look like the Mon Cal version of an ISD's wedge shape (though the angle is more in line with the Venator IMO).

Any pics of it painted up?

Do you have access to the UK Armada group on facebook?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/armadaukirl/

Then I could place a pic or two of it there. (Since Photo bucket went in the "bucket", I'm not using that any more)

I dont think i'm in that group so I will try and join! Thanks!

Just let me know when you have ;)

The one bit that I wasn't clear on was that they didn't have heavier shielding than anything else. The MCxx designs had a pretty absurd number of redundancies and safeties. So their shielding wasn't stronger than an ISD or similar sized design. Their shielding wouldn't completely fail and collapse when hit hard and would be restored much more quickly.

In one scene in the Xwing series, Mon Remonda threw down with an SSD for a while by doing a slow barrel roll. By the time they completed a roll, the shields that had been hit first were back near full strength.

A Mon Cal ship ship in Armada should have had an ability to restore 2 shields with 3 engineering or something similar to reflect that. That or a built in redundant shields upgrade

How about;

Tactical Gyro Thrusters:

At the start of the ship phase, you may swap the current shield values of your left and right hull zones

3 points(def and support team slots)

I think that can simulate the slow roll? Works well with redundant shields but does not prevent really heavy punches from reaching the hull

Honestly Redundant Shields is overcosted in my opinion and a modification. I would love to put them on Arquitens but too costly.

Redundant shields were made for ... Jerjerrod!

At least until cymoon comes out for stm.

Better yet, stack them for higher survival

Redundant shields should have been cheaper I agree. Maybe 6 points would have been good. That way it could contest with ECM at 7.

As I have written a few times, most of the non ecm defensive retrofits involve 3.

Redundant shields buys you an average of 3 extra shields

AP lets you properly utilize rear hull zone shields, which are often 3

Blast Doors removes 3 hull damage.

they all roughly balance ish between each other. The main problem is they all pale in comparison to a brace token in ability to remove or avoid damage, and being able to use that token in the face of the preventative mechanic is super cheap in comparison... essentially the problem we have is that no matter how many cheaper you make redundant shields and AP , without a significant cost increase, ECM will remain by and far the best choice on average.

Just an idea, but could that card showing the TIE fighter getting hit involve slowing down/immobalizing squadrons? That would be awesome, as the TIE in the card appears to be spinning out of control as it is hit, but not taking much damage.

As someone said before maybe blue flechettes because black ones few ships can take it

Doesn't the Defiance title show tie fighters being shot - and yet have nothing to do with anti squadron at all?

Yeah. . . :(

I've been on the Mon Cal line of ships freight train since they announced the game itself. This is just the next stop.

Though now I have a bit better engine at the front of the train (conga line) than the Liberty.

Given that, any Mon Cal ship without a defensive (shielding oriented) upgrade slot would be atypical

The canon for the Profundity is that the Mon cal ships were disguised as buildings after the clone wars. When the empire took over and started to occupy Mon Cala the Mon Calamari fled into deep space in their ships that the empire thought were just city buildings. They began to retrofit them for combat there. The Profundity was a government center building for the mon calamari in the polar regions. This is all in the ultimate visual guide if you want to know my source.

Wait, specifically ships disguised as buildings? I thought it was buildings converted into ships? Wookiepedia says they had 'space-worthy buildings' - not ships that looked like buildings.

Wow. Well, I liked converted research and cruise vessels better. But it is what it is.

I don't think that they are mutually exclusive. I would take it that ships like the profundity (mc75) we're the space buildings, and the MC 80 's we're the science and cruise ships. Seeing as how the 75s would have been defended with civilian passengers in mind I could see the reason why they were not more prevolant in the conflicts( aside from irl reasons), but I think the would of been already armed and sort of ready to go. The 80 s would of taken more time to get into fightin shape but would of been better armed due to knowing who and how they were fightin.

I'm pretty sure the next wave is gonna have the Raddus and the SSD for epic play.

I just took a picture. It was easier that quoting the text. 1IgVcvE.jpg

So they were transports and passenger liners disguised as structures.

Ah the good old 'disguised starships as buildings' trick. Takes home the win every time.

How cool would it be to have that as a scenario? The MC taking off and blitzing past an imperial blockade. I think that world be a hoot.

Here is the part about it being a government building. C7EYKGF.jpg

That picture and the longer explanation actually works for me. A blanket "disguised as building" sounds terrible. The "prepared because of cultural PTSD" works much better.
