Hi all,
Can anyone confirm if damage listed is character-scale or planetary-scale? Because if it's the last it severely wound an AT-AT and totally destroy an AT-ST...
Personal scale.
Thank you.
Of course, that means you need to land about half a dozen solid mine hits to kill a single AT-ST, so...

On the plus side, you need about the same amount for an AT-AT, critical hits should prove to be the fastest method with those mines "anti-vehicle" mines with personal scale damage.
Imho those things really should have an vehicle equivalent to vicious to make them actually useful. Crit Rating of 2 is ok, but just like the anti-personnel mine which comes with vicious 4, adding 40 to critical hits (but not critical injuries) would be cool.
On another plus side, if you use a squadron AT-STs as a minion group, those mines would be enough regardless.

Most personal scale antivehicle weapons are more about inflicting crits than hull trauma. Remember, unlike Critical injuries, Critical hits don't require you to inflict hull trauma, only that you beat the armor rating.

Now that I see this. Do you remember the source for that? I have read it, I think there is an official source, but last time when I was asked about a source, I could not remember from where I got this.

I keep hearing this suggestion too, and I think it's crap. I stand firm that a hit inflicting < 1 HT after Armor is ineffective and cannot inflict a critical on a starship/vehicle.

QuoteRemember, an attack's damage also has to exceed a target's armor to deal a Critical Hit, which is important when fring small arms at something using armor instead of soak. When an attacker generates a Critical Hit, he rolls on Table 7-9: Critical Hit Result and his target suffers the listed effects.
Jap. Though I guess you could say that 1 point of personal scale damage is already exceeding the targets armor, but I doubt they meant that. Not important for the mine btw, it comes with breach 4 and 25 damage, so usually it should either way enough to a crit on things up to armor 6 anyway.

I'm looking at AoR core page 257, but it's in the "Critical hits" entry in all the cores Vehicle chapter.

... actually that's precisely what they meant. They actually call out it's important when talking small arms vs. vehicles.
Extra Note: Vicious applies to both Critical Hits and Injuries. It's Lethal Blows which is injuries only. That said, AV mines still don't have it....

Oh, really. It's really there. EotE-CRB p. 157
QuoteVicious
When this weapon scores a critical injury or hit , the character adds ten times the Vicious rating to the critical roll. With Vicious 3, for example, the victim adds + 30 to his critical hit result
Thanks for correcting me there. So yeah, vicious would have been the right thing to add to that mine to make it deadly for vehicles.
