His ship has been fitted with "a temporary accelerator pod", so it looks as though this would just be an upgrade card if it made its way into the game.

So, is the acceleration temporary or the pod itself temporary?
According to the article "The X-Wing (an Incom-FreiTek T-70, to be precise) has, according to Rian Johnson, been specially modified by Resistance engineers, with a temporary accelerator pod affixed to the aft section. According to The Last Jedi director, the pod, when primed, increases Dameron's speed, allowing him to outrun First Order cannon emplacements. It's just a temporary boost and will burn out quickly but it's enough to get beyond the barrage of turbo laser fire from First Order Star Destroyers"
So it's a SLAM mod.
Or maybe a free boost. That'd kinda step on the toes of either Snap Wexley or TIE Strikers with Adaptive Ailerons, but it could be fun.

Burnout SLAM would fit.

All acceleration is temporary except in a perfectly frictionless universe.
I appreciate the physics in this answer.

No, that would be velocity.
Acceleration stops when there is no net force. All acceleration is temporary unless you want to throw out the second law of thermodynamics.

Discardable SLAM upgrade as a modification, perhaps?
Of course, this would be tough on the modification-dependent X-wings.
Unless they had some sort of title that allowed broader customization options. Maybe a discount on their shiny toys, to help their jousting once again.

Oops.

Yeah, a Burnout SLAM modification sounds about right.
As it sounds like Poe uses the boost to outrun cannon fire, then maybe it could increase the ships agility as well. Maybe add a focus effect for all defense dice that round. I think that if it was a one use modification then it would need some other benefits to justify taking it.
A mod that is a sort of combo of Burnout SLAM and Countermeasures for T-70s could be interesting.
edit: minus the discarding of a TL part of Countermeasures. Better for pricing and they already have access to the Black One title.

So it's literally a booster like in Star Wars Galaxies.
Alright then.

Well, can we say that all acceleration is temporary unless you have an infinite energy source providing the pushing force

i don't think he is literally going to be out running the shots.. more that it is meant to let him go from 'long' range to 'point blank' rapidly, minimizing the time they have to shoot at him.. then once he's up close, to let him fly faster than the turrets can turn to track him.
in effect, he will literally be arc dodging.
so the burnout SLAM would actually work well.. it would let you cross the play area rapidly, and re-position for a good shot.
What Poe really needs is a 1 turn. I'm very interested in the burnout SLAM idea though.
Two, three turns covers a lot of the mat!

All acceleration is temporary unless you ignore the speed of light, anyway. It's only ever possible to go SO fast...

You can still accelerate as much as you like, you just won't get past the speed of light.

IOW when you reach the speed of light you stop accelerating ![]()

No, because you can't reach the speed of light, so you don't stop accelerating. EVER!
Relativity is confusing.
A burnout SLAM analogue in a tech upgrade might be cool.
****, with Snap, it'd be downright terrifying - Speed 4 straight, free boost, speed 4 straight.....

Then you can't shoot soooooo... meh.
A Burnout SLAM Tech would be GREAT. Especially when the First Order Bomber drops.
Poor Punisher though ![]()
