So With 2 large ships on the horizon, How likely are we to see a standard points increase, Or a new format for Larger Battles?
Surely FFG didn't want us to have only a tiny fraction of our collections on the table?

You can play at any points value outside of tournaments you know.
I know, im a more regular player of games betwwen 800-1200 points.
I guess the question in the statement is... is it safe for me to start selling off my 'spare' ships, or will FFG introduce a larger format, with medium and large ship formations in the future??

For tournament play? Most likely no. But I can see an epic format. Problem is that those large point games can take a long time.
i do hope to see either 450 or 500pts. 500 maybe too big. 450 would feel good.
They did say when they upgraded from 300 to 400 that they wouldn't go higher for tournament play.

I point you toward 11 waves and multiple aces packs of X-wing, and only about a half a dozen ships being "meta" at any one time. The ship has sailed on FFG worrying about the size of people's collections that hit the table.
Not sure if we'll see an increase in points. The current limit provides some interesting constraints based on the card costs that promote good, interesting, and varied list building. I have a feeling a bump to 500 might actually skew that rather dramatically in a tournament format, as well as downgrading the value of some objectives.
I'm ok with the current limit, really. It would be interesting to see a new campaign box with a higher base limit, though. Maybe starting at 500 and reinforcing to 600 using points gained? Those would be some **** pretty games...
I would support 450. Too many times I am 20 or 30 points over and I have to cut into the integrity of my carefully crafted list. It makes squadrons an even 150 pts, boosts limits by 50 pts, and cures my angst. win!
I'm sure we will see epic play. When? Idk. In tornament play? No.

And with it I suspect epic ships.

And then you will be at 470 and say, crap it needs to be 500 points... Haha
I do find myself in the same situation though. I need more points to fully developed my fleet, strategy and plan some times.

Don't we all.

I'm curious, what are your "spare" ships? And why would you sell them? I mean, ships play different roles in combat and missions. You might play a mission/ objective where it would be hove (behove?) you to have additional smaller and medium ships on your roster to accomplish objectives that large ships may not be ideally suited for. Just a thought.
I buy as many of a ship as I expect to reasonably use. I know the gaming crew near me will lend spares for oddball fleets. So increasing to 500 does nothing for me except make people play slower.

I bought up a large collection that needed a home not so long ago, with the intention of breaking it down and selling it to expand locally, using the sales of the early wave Alt arts included to cover the losses. Good plan =)
I'd rather get a new player going locally at 60% rrp than have ships not see the table sitting in my box because i cant fit them into a 1200 point game.
at 400 points I have more flexibility than i have hours in the day. I can sell another fleet out of my collection and still have plenty on the roster.
So how many ships do you have? Like doubles of everything? Triples?

Is "too many" a valid answer?

FFG has always wanted you to spend more money on this game than you strictly need to. This is true of every product produced by every company ever. Companies like it when customers spend money on their products.

No! Not possible.
You simply need to buy more shelving.
Lol. I buy enough that we could play blue on blue at my table if we wanted to. We dont but we could.
I'd sell stuff off. I know I'm looking for a good home for my second ISD and Liberty right now. Even if they just do a single rerelease of every ship, I will have plenty of options with 2 of each ship. I was buying 2+ of each item for awhile there but I'm now dialing it back to 1 each.
