The Binding..

By Machpants, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Well I must say I am peeved (well another p word) with the binding on the books. I have read through the rule book once, and done a little flipping to trial some rules/learn them etc. Already on of the pages has almost totally detached and it look like more is going to happen. This is supposed to be THE book at the table, it should have exceptional binding, esp for the RRP of the set! But the binding is the cheap glue crap, no thread.

And I need to vent ... AAAAAARRRGGHHHH!!! I spent a bomb on this!

Anyone else with the same problems? I am not in the US but brought it through Amazon.com (nobody here stocks it); should I contact FFG direct and see if I can get a replacement? Or is their Customer Service as poor as their binding?

FFG customer service is supposed to be excellent. Just contact them, and they'll sort it out.

This only happens very rarely. I've had one person return his books in my shop. You should contact either the shop you bought it from or FFG directly to get them replaced. Its not supposed to happen.

I generally hate rpg books with glued binding. Pages falling out always seems to be a problem for me. I've been extra careful with my WFRP books and so far so good. You should definitely contact FFG and see if they can sort it out for you. They are a top notch company.

Cool, glad to hear that they are good guys. I will not bother contacting Amazon but will try FFG.

Calmed down a bit now :)

The pages at the back of two of my books are looking dodgy - did the whole fold back the covers etc thing to prevent it. Not impressed, this could cost them a lot of money if they end up having to replace books for a bunch of us. Will see how they hold up over the next few weeks - if they fall apart after a year or so I am not bothered - but should not be an issue virtually just out of the box.

I had a problem with my corebook as well. I contacted FFG via their support submission link, and they replaced it immediately.

I always encountered this problem with my glued softcopies (particulary the GW army books). However I found a solution. What I do now is "precrease" the front and back cover. Since I've done this I haven't had any troubles with the glued softcopies.

As noted above - this is what I did - and 2 of the books still look like they are thinking of falling apart.

I've never heard of anyone having problems with FFG customer service in replacing defective or missing or lost game pieces.

No they seem real good. They got back to me straight away and asked for my address for the replacement. Good service, it is just a pity that they chose glue for a RPG book. RPG books are heavily used and need the best binding. Glue is just not up to it IMO.

Oh well I may take all 3 players books in to the binders and get them done properly as one big book and hope the GMs book can stand up to the abuse.

That's an excellent idea. I wonder if FFG could offer all four books in one binder, a la Harnmaster.
