[MAFIA] Sands of the New Republic - DAY 1

By Visovics, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Finally catching up.

So as far as I see it, just because Pod is being weird doesn't mean he's scum. Unfortunately, he's just annoyingly cryptic and random all the time, so that doesn't leave me much to go on.

CNinja is a bit more active than usual. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's given any reason for his large number of D1 posts. However, JJ's got a point:

Why punish players from varying up their playstyle? Changing patterns mid game...now that's suspicious. But using a different method doesn't make one scum.

I agree, so I think there's no reason to lynch there yet.

Be back with more analysis in a bit.

I really don't see what you guys see in Pod.

Well im not known for sitting on the fence. If that helps.

You've been scum a lot, and it colors perception for sure.

That said, this is really defensive. And not really borne out by like...facts. Have you ever been lynched, champ? Because I don't remember you ever meeting Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Seems, uhm, disingenuous to complain about something that hasn't harmed you.

Of course people are suspicious of you. Everyone is suspicious of everyone.

So here's an example of snappiness (think I spelled that right this time) from Mads. Not sure what to make of him, either.

Ovi has seemed a bit off, but I don't know him all that well so I have less to go on.

Unless something more likely comes up in the next few hours, I say:

##vote Madaghmire

At least for now...

Not that i don't think Caldias isn't a decent shout, he is. he clearly intends to flop into the voting at the last minute and wagon anyone in sight, and i cant say i agree its in towns interest to let him do so.

Hmm.... So that is 3 votes for Pod and Cninj and 2 votes each for Ghost and Mad and 1 on myself. That we are so split on our D1 vote with relatively little time left where most of the time people just chain and follow is pretty interesting

Let me see how a vote would look at this point in the game-

A vote on pod is a relatively safe follow, suspicion wise, as his behavior in past games has made him an easy cop out vote when you wanted your name on the board but didn't want to have to explain anything. I don't think that's the case this game, but no doubt we will see that explanation (in fact, Imp cap just kinda used it even though he voted on Mad).

A vote for Cninj or Madaghmire is pretty high risk/reward. They are both strong players that have been a little odd D1. Most likely it is just the internet, and people reading into this stuff, but in Mafia you never quite know. So if one is lynched and comes up town it will look very bad for the people who voted for them and they will look like opportunistic scum looking to eliminate a strong player D1. If one turns up scum however, the town cred would be an equal boon. Because they are a risky follow I don't know if I see enough people hopping on their wagon.

A Vote for Ghost is the perfect crime. He is already asleep, already put in his vote, nobody would blame anyone for voting for him D1 and who knows he might even be scum. He might also be a town power role that scum could lynch without a claim. It's a roll of the dice D1.

I am not sure any of them look more suspicious than any other player in the game at the moment, as is the way for D1 votes. If I voted with my own gut I would go Ovinomancer. But since it is unlikely to get a vote on him with 6 hours left and I don't want to end with a non-lynch, right now I will go for Mad.

##vote Madaghmire

Still need a count @Visovics...

right now I'm stuck between going Mad or Ninja... the odds of both being town caught in some crossfire are long I'm just not sure which one...

**** Broba that was a good post.

##unvote.

I'm willing to follow JJs hunch and your logic on Mads. (I know I'm town and also cannot vote for myself).

##vote Madaghmire

We're getting pretty close to the point in the evening where I am going to play destiny and stop looking at this, so one last real effort post.

This case against me is nonsense. I am playing exactly the same way I always play when town. Look at last game, and how I drew suspicion similarly and hoe I was town. Its like, objectively nonsense.

Lets look at it;

JJ blasts me for answering a question for CNinja, argues that I overlooked a point of a view I espoused six hours prior, then selectively takes my posts, removes the context, ignores anything besides lines that could be made to fit his narrative, and votes me. Some of it is even contradictory. For example, he blasts me for being "non comittal" and trying to avoid pressuring anyone. He says I'm trying to buddy up to him cuz I write that I'd like to hear his thoughts since at that point he'd posted a grand total of one time to that point. Btw, thats not what I was doing. What I was doing was calling out an inactive. But hey, facts only matter if they support the narrative.

Impcaptain calls me snappish for calling Broba out on a post that was, by his own admission, overly defensive. JJ btw, ignores that whole portion of the post and hits me on the last line, because the rest I guess didnt work for him.

Broba is literally just following. I do think its interesting that "none look more suspicious than any other" but he doesn't vote for players with a higher vote count when his stated reason for voting for me is to avoid a no lynch. Not that I'm sold on either of them, but by your own reasoning then that would be the next logical step.

Cninja also followed while I wrote this. It appears I am amidst a turbo. If this hasn't swayed hearts I suppose I can claim.

It's not just the frequency of posting that's bugging me with Ninja. It's the level of aggression on display as well. JJ, you say he's not behaving like his Scum behavior. Well, he's also not acting like his usual town behavior. His whole modus operandi is off, which is what's setting off my alarm bells. His early blast of Broba is the most worrying action.

There is, however, a higher calling in this vote. Something that has gone unaddressed for far too long.

#JusticeforJJ

Mad, you have still yet to answer for your part that fiasco. I won't shift yet, but I'd be lying it I said I wasn't willing to shift if the vote is tight on that basis alone :)

In fact, here;

I'm a New Republic Agent, town aligned fisherman. I can go through the ships lost and found each night with my ##fish command and find gadgets to use on subsequent nights. I can have more than one item at a time but only one action per night. (A little swiss army but of mild import. Honestly, I'm not sure the role is totally worth protecting but it has some upside)

Items (role they mimic) and percentage chance:

syringes (doc) 10%

magnifying glasses (cop) 15%

guns (vigilante) 15%

1-shot vest (bulletproof) 20%

binoculars (watcher) 25%

gps locators (tracker) 25%

Thats all I got folks. And I'll throw a vote on

##brobafett

For his defensive post earlier, and his inconsistency in my vote.

Well I'm getting turbo'd now. This is a pretty decent shot at ##justiceforjj. Just when I flip town, make sure you get ##justiceformadaghmire

@Madaghmireof the three that started it on you, you think Broba?

@Drasnighta

you watching?

penny for your thoughts

Do you know, when we offer people our opinion, we call it our Two Cents...

... But when you want someone elses, its only ever a penny...

Strange how we value our own unsolicited opinion twice as much as someone elses, eh?

@JJs Juggernaut what are your thoughts on Mad's claim?

I'm mostly just joking here. I really don't see you as scum. I'm just not willing to go no lynch. If you get hanged and flip town, #justiceformad is definitely a thing.

Guys, unless Mads got a perfect fake claim I do not think he's scum. Go back and check my drops (Binoculars, Magnifying Glass) It is a perfect match.

I think JJ really wants to get me hung, and I think thats coloring his actions. He could be scum but I think if he were he'd have been less pushy. I'm a little annoyed by the propogand

I haven't actually seen enough out of impcaptain. Which is something to look at, but... I was wrong about him last game for similar reasons.

Broba actively bypassed others with higher counts to get to me, which makes him the high upside play in my eyes. Because not only is there a solid foundation of fact on which to base the vote, but if he flips scum it points us at other targets. (In this case, you and Pod, although you would have recognized I'm not scum if you were by process of elimination and would be unlikely to help me here.)

If someone has a better read I'm open to it. I'm mildly annoyed I'm not playing destiny right now so my reasoning may be suspect.

I don't trust Mad's claim. Maybe it's just coming off a game GMing were I gave everyone fake claims, but I know Vis has talked about his game not being susceptible to mass claim. Mad's claim is perfect...too perfect.

Well now this damned peculiar... we got a seemingly solid claim from Mad and a soft claim from Ninja... saying they're the same role... well this changes some things

Nothing soft about it. My text is exactly what Mads wrote.

Wow, another thing not caught by the censor. Damned fuckery I say...

just didn't want to claim for you Ninja...

@Madaghmirejust check between loading screens (they still doing the warp thing?) Can't wait until it hits PC.
