What are the chances?????

By drail14me, in X-Wing

I'm one of those that REALLY want's a new X-Wing pack. Either a Rogue One or Rebels pack or a pack that ties both together. I really believe FFG will do this at some point and I thought that time was at hand.

However, after seeing the new preview for season 4 of Rebels, I'm guessing with my luck, any X-Wing project just got jumped by a Sabine Tie Defender since Sabine seems to fly EVERYTHING now.

I hope not! If that's the case I want a wedge imperial or faction less ships for all......?

If you are talking about the yellow Defender, its imperial.

Yes, I understand that. But after watching Rebels long enough, my money is on the Ghost crew to steal one, Sabine fly it thus leading to another Sabine FFG pilot card instead of our desired X-Wing pack.

A Sabine defender would be nutty good, if it had her usual pilot ability. Boost or Barrel Roll to avoid a block before a white 4K into an x/7 token? That'd be wicked strong. A weakness of the Defender is it's desire to move in straight lines. Having the pre-move boost would radically things. Add Intensity, and you'll be looking at 3 tokens pretty much every turn without stress, and at 34-35 points if she costs as much as Countess Ryad or Colonel Vessery. I kinda hope they don't print one of those, if only because she'd be so strong.

While I hope they don't go that route, I would love to use that ability with that chassis.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to fly Sabine in a TIE Defender, or Fenn Rau in an A-Wing (that chassis could come into the modern meta in a big way, at native PS9 with that pilot ability actually giving it an offensive punch). But I'd rather the game comes up with new stuff, rather than finding the most powerful ways to reuse old chassis.

Agreed.

If they go that route then make pilots separate from ships . Then pick pilot then chose ship and throw whole faction out.....???

So, you'd rather have new odd ball ships pulled from mobile app games than have iconic Star Wars ships from the movies as competitive choices? Come on, give me an X-Wing over an obscure scum ship any day!

If that happens I'm selling x-wing and sticking to Vassal and TTS only

Yellow striping on the wing edges seem to indicate experimental ships or may be markings for Thrawn's elite fighter squadron. Either way, it's nice to see something different for the Imp color scheme.

waiting for Imp Sabine in a Defender with all new ability. Rebels and Scum have enough Sabine at the moment.

In some cases, yes. X-Wings don't need new pilots to become viable. They need a title, or a mod. Maybe some whole new mechanic (hello, squadron mechanics), but not new pilots.

Also, for all the moaning I've heard for some "new odd ball" ship, I have also been hearing how some of those ships brought players into the game in the first place. The first ship I ever bought wasn't a movie ship. It was a HWK.

So, yeah, I'll take more odd ball ships, please.

Though, with proper planning and pacing, both can be accomplished.

I agree totally on the X-Wing (A, B and Y as well) needing a title and/or mods but some new pilots with that would be good too.

We all have our nich things about Star Wars we like. I'm an Original Trilogy guy that likes the war side of the story including the ships and vehicles. I don't care much for the Jedi Sith deal or the Prequels and so far, not impressed with the Sequels either. So, that's why I want to see the A, B, X and Y back viable again.

And that's fair. I perhaps came on a little too strong cause I've seen some people try to use that reasoning to say Legends and NuCanon have absolutely no place in Star Wars.

We all like what we like, and to be honest, I would like to see the old alphabet wings back in the limelight. It's definitely the old "why not both" meme for me.

Did you ever watch the WWII series Band of Brothers? The thing I'd like to see most right now is a Star Wars series in that format that follows a group of soldiers through the Galactic Civil war similar to the Battlefront book.

But Expertise Horton fires some mean Plasmas for an alpha strike. Not to mention triple taps with title and TLT.

Stress hog doesn't work anymore?

TLT spam?

The original Rebel Bombers!

Come on, Y-wings are awesome!

They are awesome! One of my favorite ships. But when is the last time you saw one in a meta list? They are fun at the local level but don't expect to go far in tournaments with one.

Meta lists do not concern me. You underestimate the power of OT ships. I find your lack of faith disturbing.

also it wasn't talk that long ago some guy named Paul won worlds with a Y-wing. And the guy who came in second had a very hard working A-wing. It doesn't take much of a change in the Meta to have these neglected lovelies shine again.

I have not watched it, but I know of it. I'd totally watch Star Wars Band of Brothers, particularly if done in live action.

Personally, what I want to see most out of Star Wars right now is a mini-series following the careers of some idealistic Imperial cadets. At the beginning, they are there because they believe in the security and unity Palpatine promised, and that as Imperial officers, they are protecting the galaxy. Then as they progress, they start seeing the ugly realities of the Empire, ending with the different characters showing an array of reactions to the true nature of the Empire (being corrupted by it, ignoring it, trying to change it, and rebelling against it.)

Yeah, I could watch this as well!! It could be the other side of the Band of Brothers show. The series could show both sides of the fight.

Not gonna lie, Sabine in an X-wing (boostin' and barrel-rollin' all over the countryside!) could actually be pretty excellent.

There could be some play in a Zeb pilot character too - he and my ever beloved Tarn Mison could make for some really annoying PS3 tanky craft.

Hera and r2 astromech could make for a pretty unpredictable ace
