Tiers of lore be damned?

Personally my most valued contradiction is on my latest post on the thread "Galactic Empires - Racial Stance". I am unsure why you assume I am on a high horse when quoting my previous comment, I havent said anything untrue to the best of my knowledge. IQ exists, the measurment of inteligence. Inteligence being what divides society, professions, understanding and almost all things in human culture. Though I will admit I do feel like I am on a high horse when people spout the most unhelpfull of comments.

So something that contradicts your assumptions is a contradiction? The claims you make in that thread are not supported by the movie material - yes there are only men, but that is how movies were made at the time and can be purely coincidental within universe. Only the now outdated EU spelled these aspects of the empire out, in an overdone cartoon-villain-like way. The nu-canon still has an element of sexism (Sloane was stuck on a backwater posting mostly because of her gender after all), but it isn't anywhere near as extreme and has capable women rise to their places, as is alot more believable with Palpatine.

BTW IQ is a very weak measurement for any type of intelligence other than the mathematical/logical (as in propositional logic) intelligence. There are many cases of people with high IQ that are not capable of understanding simple everyday tasks like tieing their shoes - would you call these truly intelligent? Overstating the meaningfulness of IQ is one of those things that just annoys the heck out of me.

Thanks for your recent postings @Kappa Smith .

I now know to ignore everything you post on this forum because of your massive ego and overinflated opinion of yourself.

Cheers!

I can't make that blanket statement, because of this one exact quote from @Kappa Smith

" You can disregard all the legend content in my original post. However the empire are still racist, untrustworthy of droids and look down on gender eqaulity, this we know of due to evidence in the films. However for all you keyboard warriors this is all in open contradiction with star wars rebels where I am sure there are a few woman high up in the Galactic Empire and no doubt aliens and droids are treated with more respect and trust simply due to star wars rebels being void of real world issues; as its aimed at a childrens audience. So in this special case I personally choose the scummy Empire I knew and loved in my childhood over anything else, this does not make me wrong and if you choose to disagree you aren't wrong either. Though I do have my personal grievance with this unorthodox way of doing things. "

That point... I rather agree with. (Not much of a Rebels fan myself... no hate, just no taste for it)

Maybe so, but Rebels isn't solely aimed at children, which was the dismissive point Kappa was making.

Yeah okay, fair enough.

I'll put it this way, the zoo would be much less interesting with the.. you know.. the exhibits.

You mean 'without' them? ;)

Needs more Porg.

I couldn't make it through the first season of Rebels, but if the similarities are close enough between Clone Wars, I'd argue that neither of them are for children, well young children, despite the layer of Disney that's all over Rebels. Anything related to Dathomir is friggin' dark.

It gets better after Season 1 tbh. I struggled badly, but it picks up later on.

Yea, yes, that.... momentary IQ drop, Blood Caffeine level dipped.

I would be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt if my kids ever got Back into it... and if/when it streams somewhere, since my household has pretty well moved away from discs. (Autism and scratchable media don't mix for long, blurays were getting severe mileage even when little man was being "sweet" and "careful"... he tries though).

My first "mneh" point was the scaling on the vehicles. Deliberating making TIE fighters cattywhompus so they more closely matched the toys would've bugged my hemorrhoids even as a kid, and the three feet away "firefights" seemed More problematic than even the one's in Clone Wars.

However , I've had enough people I respect say "It's Good StarWars storytelling." that I'm willing to dip into it someday. Just pretend it's good star wars storytelling being told with plushies or some such.

I play star wars destiny, and X-Wing. I hope to enjoy this game as well. I watch a lot of videos on both. If during any video I see someone say or do something wrong I go watch a different video. The point being I get far more enjoyment by not complaining. Same kind of logic could be applied here.

It has James Earl Jones voice Vader. THAT is all you should need to know to start watching!

Anyone who thinks Rebels is aimed at children just watch IGN's season 4 trailer. There you will see a mandalorian get electrocuted then turned to dust by that new walker. Super kid friendly.

Pretty much. Clone Wars had all this and more....and a few creepy moments with Asohka, IIRC. I get that the OT movies had their fair share of violence, but none of them really had the level of cruelty or sadism seen in the animated series. Palpatine at the end of Jedi is about as awful as it got. Spoiler Alert.

waitwhut ?!

...what does Palpatine do at the of Jedi? Izzit scary? Should I watch it with all the lights on? Should I wait for my wife to get back from her parent's and watch it with her with the lights on??

I thought he turned to the good side and wound up being Luke's great auntie or something...

The thing that disappoints me about Cannon, is that there are never any actual bloody cannons!

A wife going to her parents is like a husband going out for cigarettes. You should watch it with the lights on, and I wouldn't recommend being alone for a while.

I have watched every movie (side note are the Ewok movies cannon???? What about "that which shall not be named festive episode"??).

The levels of Canon are:

0. Personal preference (RPG, EU)

1. George Lucas movies (OT, ewok movies and PT)

2. Mickey mouse movies (rogue one & FA era)

3. TV shows (rebels / clone wars)

4. Other stuff

5. Mickey/Lucas on drugs (holiday special or Lego anything).

Silly question, but I will answer. If I think I can add to the topic I will, but I personally felt I could not add any more and I still dont. Should circumstances change then I will add a reply where necassery. I suppose all that you could add was a **** post, but how can anyone blame you. Thats as far as some peoples inellectual minds can process and this is also partly the reason I try very hard not to have the back and forth meaningless arguments with people like yourself.

Not upset. More annoyed by the "holier than thou, don't talk to me peasant" attitude.
