****, I would love for Shadows to still be canon... I do love that the YT-2400 showed up in Rebels. It's one of my favorite additions to the Star Wars ship catalogue.

Honestly...it doesn't even contradict anything in Nucanon, right? Unless I'm missing something, there is still a Shadows of the Empire shaped hole between ESB and RoJ.

There definitely is. Most of the new stuff has been dancing around that time period, but it's only a matter of time before the comics fill the Ep4 to 5 gap and they'll have to move to the same time frame as Shadows. That being said, until it's contradicted, it still works.

All that said, if they choose to do their own thing, I hope they find a way to reintroduce Dash and the Outrider into the new lore like they have with Thrawn.

I agree! Dash and the Outrider is one of the best things from the EU! I am always hoping Dash will show up in canon somehow. The Outrider is the reason I got into this game. How can you not want to fly it?

The Outrider appears in ANH:SE. That's as Canon as the ship and dash (and leebo) have been for decades.

They could have made Dash and Leebo canon very easily in FA:

Han and crew arrive at that bar, Han gives his "let me do the talking speech" and they enter.

After walking in and surveying the scene, Han approaches the bar and asked to see Maz, the bartender nods and walks off with Han and crew standing at the bar.

Chewbacca nudges Han and nods his attention to a secluded booth. Han turns and there is Dash and Leebo. they raise their glass in recognition, Han nods back and turns his attention back to the bar.

God ****, space cowboy wannabe. . .

Return to the rest of the scene.

Now they don't have to say who he is but it establishes:
Han is still a well-established hero/smuggler, even in this far-fetched corner of the galaxy.
Han clearly has history with this guy. . .
The fans will recognize them as Dash and Leebo and get a little excited.
Makes the bar more "scoundrel" ly
Fans would appreciate the nod to a now "Legend" legend.
Allows for a spin off.

Same thing with having Phasma be the one that fought Finn with the shock baton. Would have done so much to her character.

Clone Mace Windu would be totally Palpatine style. And they had Access to his hand when he "beat" Palpatine in RotS.

Furthermore, stealing the cloning tech and hiding it in some remote place is as well totally Palpatine's style. You replace the easy dark side mindcontrol with the bio-chips, etc the story would still work out. The details change naturally, but the story really, really works. On top it is easy to imagine that Anakin Skywalker saved the Noghri for real, he was pretty heroic during his time in jedi order.

The outrider is canon. It is in ANH. And yes, it is confirmed to be the outrider, not an generic YT-2400.

The only thing I can think of that's different now is that Iggy tracks Fett tracking the Falcon, Fett blasts the droid somewhere in Cloud City, and scrap always goes where the scrap always goes...

And that's not really an issue due to the different IG-88s there were plus the possibility of it being explained away as a different member of the IG series entirely.

I just want Rogue Squadron back... or something similar. Those books made up the best running series of books in the EU. I would even love them to do it as a TV show, heck even put Corran Horn in there as he learns the ways of the Jedi so that there is still lightsabres for the nay-sayers. Even if it's not Corran (it wont be).

It was said to be the Outrider before the mouse ... Now it is unknown.

When asked if Rendar would become canon, Gary Whitta (Rogue One co-writer, and a writer for some Rebes scripts) said this:

"You know, there are certain people at Lucasfilm that would hang you from a tree for saying something like that. He's a very polarizing character! People either love Dash or they hate him. But obviously, one of the great things about Rebels is you get to introduce characters from the wider pantheon of Star Wars. One of the coolest things with season 3 is that we got to bring in Thrawn into the canon and make him an essential character on the show. So I think they're always looking for those opportunities but the people who work at Lucasfilm are very aware of not doing stuff necessarily just for fan service, you do it because it's something the show needs or can benefit from rather than just 'throw this in there because it's an Easter Egg and someone will notice."

I personally love Dash, and why I started playing X-Wing to begin with. Overall Shadows of the Empire is one of those very "grey" areas.

That is only because of rebels timeline. In ANH TIEs were gray due to the blue screen technique.. if we see an animated series post RotJ I they will be the blue ones. They need to keep a minimal consistency and not jump back and forth the colors.

Starfighter livery was standardized following the loss of the DS and reorganization of the Fleet.
