Nice!

I go to that shop on a regular basis. It'll be nice to see L5R there again.

If there isn't anything closer to me in WA that weekend, I'll do my best to make it. The shop I play at is doing their release right on 10/5 so hopefully I can make more than one release event. Biggest hurdle will be making sure the little lady is on board and that there are no conflicts with my daughters' soccer games.

Even the most fierce Oni knows that a happy wife = a happy life.

Fu Leng: "You will do as commanded and represent me in as many release events as you can"

Me: "Yes master........just let me consult with the boss......Honey?!"

Fu Leng: /facepalm

At $45, we can only do it as Single Core. But that Core Box is provided as part of the event.

As this isn't a "major" tournament, Clans can use any roles they want.

We'll be using a version of the point system for tie breakers that was used at Gencon

Typing while at the dayjob can be a dangerous thing....

I've heard the L5R scene there is on fire.

Ouch. <_<

Lets hope everyone in that part of town is staying safe.

I'm beginning to wonder if prize support should include trees that we can plant out in the Gorge once the fire is over.

Stay safe everybody.

What is the grand prize? Who is the artist have they done anything may have seen ?

I wish my local game store owner was interested in running events for the game. I asked him several times to order the release promo / tourney kit, but he wouldn't do it.

11 years ago, I owned my own small gaming shop in this town. While I certainly focused more effort on promoting games I personally loved, I didn't dismiss other games or their players. There are times I wish I never closed down and moved, especially seince we just ended up back here eventually anyway.

I will be attending with a group of friends, but have one question. If someone already has core sets, is it possible to just play in the tournament without purchasing a core?

An original piece featuring all Seven of the Champions

by James Sinclair

He has worked on many comics for publishers such as DC Comics, Vertigo, Dark Horse & Marvel. He has worked on such titles as Hellblazer, Flash, Batman:Legends of the Dark Knight, Green Arrow, The Spectre, The Ray & many more.

You can but the $45 entry fee will not change.

Take the box.....

How about donating the tournament fees to the Red Cross or some other organization.

And the good news rolls in.

Friday saw a very respectable Learn to Play event. Double digit attendance and alot of interested passers by. Even a few Magic Players that are going to show up next week.

If you haven't played or you want to get some practice in before the release, join us next Saturday.

On Saturday, the tokens arrived! We'll be posting pictures of them over the next few weeks. In deference to @shosuko, Scorpion will be shown first.

The Deckboxes should be here soon and James Sinclair showed us the pencil draft of the grand prize. It is going to be Epic.

If this was being completely done as a volunteer event with no Prize support, we would be completely onboard with your idea (sans the Red Cross).

But since the prize support has been ordered and paid for already, we will have to see if we are in the black after the tournament. Kami willing, we will have money afterward to donate.

How about this: set up something where players can donate to the Red Cross (by clan?). If you can somehow separate the donations by clan you can announce the clan that donated the most - that clan has bragging rights or what ever you can do (if anything) for members of that clan.

Players can donate to a local charity.

We will be looking into this. There are many worthwhile causes around Portland that could certainly use help.

And we promised pictures....
