Alino's Terrain Workshop

By Alino, in Star Wars: Legion

Heyo! So I figured I'd start this up for all my Star Wars Legion stuff.

Anyways, to start this off, here's a few pics of a gameboard I made awhile back. (originally for runewars but it works for both.)

I really like what you have done with the crashed starfighter. What scale is it and is it scratch built?

The crashed starfighter isn't scratch built. I wish I were skilled enough to make something like that.

Anyways, the Starfighter is a Transformer/Jedi Starfighter model. Here's actually the first pic I took for it -

And here's an older pic I took with it next to some Runewars minis, since I'm not sure of the exact scale.

Two bits of terrain primed and ready for tomorrow. (also you can see part of my next few models-of-choice for terrain to the side. I've got 3 Droid Fighters. I got them for 15 bucks :D )

These are now complete -

And here's my current project -

I made a Z-95 out of clay for an old Edge of the Empire group (I was really excited for space combat...turns out that's an easy way to die in that rule set...) that's been sitting around for a few years now. Might have to steal your idea...

Go on ahead :D This idea I've been working on has given me a chance to make a LOT of terrain pieces. Since, ya know, I had two jedi starfighters and then I just picked up three Vulture Droids.

Also some trees I started on Saturday SHOULD be done today.

Amazing work. I really like the way these pieces came out. I love all these brilliant ideas that everyone is sharing.

Keep up the great work and keep posting.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually thinking about keeping one of the vultures and painting it up in the same scheme as the one that's currently being used as terrain. (I seriously like how that scheme looks, idk why.)

Anyways, the test tree is nearing completion. Should be done in an hour or so

Going to see if I can find my old Naboo Starfighter box and create some Jungle wreckage out of it.
I already have Yoda's Tree and the Ewok village to ...pillage too.

Yoda's tree.... You've got me thinking that a Dagobah board would look great if done well.

yeah I am planning on some modular Swamp/Jungle/forest terrain...the tree, wrecked starfighter, aquarium plants and trees...maybe some ruined walls too.

I like the way you think, that'd look great. My dream gameboard would be a REALLY nice looking Felucia or Umbara board. (By the way, to any SW fans that haven't seen the clone wars, you should watch the Umbara Arc. It's great, and you don't need to see other episodes to get it )

yeah dried flowers and aquarium plants could easily make those boards. lot's of "alien" looking giant trees/plants.

I've been debating on getting stuff to make a felucia board but the problem with Umbara and Felucia (ESPECIALLY Felucia) is there's so many plants, which makes it hard to move around (The terrain I've made is pretty easy to move models around on, whereas plant things aren't)

All looking very nice! I can't work out what you are using to base with?

Wood Filler is used as the base and then my custom grass is used to base over it (fine sawdust mixed with green paint and water)

Also here's a primed Tree. It'll be the worst of the five (It helped me learn a few things)

And the Test Tree is complete. The others will look quite a bit better I bet

I think I'll do 1 more tree today, and then 2 more tomorrow, and another 2 on Thursday. I could get them all done today, but i'm not in any rush. (I mean Legion won't be here for like 5 or 6 months and at the rate I'm going I'll have enough terrain for an entire FLGS by then.)

Where did you get the droid fighter?

I actually got 3 in the same box at a local nerdy antique shop for 15 bucks. They come in this box, and you should be able to find them under "Phantom Menace Droid Fighters" online (This is an older pic btw, if the two unfinished Jedi Starfighter bits weren't a clear indication of that already. XD)

Check out this table, it represents a jungle well without being too densely packed to move.

Just skimmed through that video. That's a great board and a nice way of doing things. That said, IDK if I have the skill or patience to make a nice looking Felucia or Umbara board even if i made it nice and not too packed like that board.

I don't think you have to make your table as dense as the one in the video.

As long as you maintain the spirit of the planet's main features, you can likely get away with having half as many or 1/3 as many of the trees, foliage and rocks they were playing with.
