Force Friday II !!!!!!

But not the stat cards any of our profitable games have been asking for....
Whateva, I got a new Star Wars book to listen to now. And also a giant Lego set to wish I could afford, so... Yea.
It's exactly what I guessed it would be. It's something that you can put on any store shelf and it'll sell decently well as a Star Wars 2-player game. Am I interested in getting into Destiny? Nope! I'm sure there's someone who was really excited to get into it, though.
So, um. Question?
Not that I'm stopping you or anything, but I'm wondering... Why a new topic when this one was not only discussed 20+ hours ago, but you had been active in and responded in that thread to know?

I honestly forgot. i scrolled back through a couple pages and didn't see it but probably just overlooked it.

That's cool... You just caught me out. I dived back to the News page to see if tehre was something else I've been half-expecting to see...
But alas.
That Playtester Rumour continues to be just that.

Better question.
What's this got to do with Armada? I see no new Armada article.

Well, it kinda regards Armada.
Now that xwing and destiny both got a force Friday box, maybe in 2 years we'll finally get the one?
FF aka Midnight Madness ain't what it used to be. I was always good for 5 hours in line and $500 in plastic crap I didn't need. There were always big reveals and 30+ figures and plenty to go around. I met a lot of good folks and had a lot of fun. Now each store gets 1 case of figures and it goes to the first 2 people in line. Combine that with lackluster characters all wearing the same outfit as the last lackluster movie and I'm kinda done.
Sorry, not Armada related, I just needed to vent!

So you need that Falcon too, huh? That price is just out of control.

I may have held back a tear or two and wondered if the toy store accepts couches or mattresses as payment.
was Destiny not already a two player game?
I'm confused
Previously you had to buy 2 $25 starters to get into the game, now you have to buy 2 $40 starters which include plenty of cards you already own to get 2 copies of each card you need to play the game.

I appreciate how positive everyone on this forum is toward destiny
(myself included)
A game with all the drawbacks of an RNG dice game, combined with all the drawbacks of blind pack cards for deck building.
I still don't get the appeal.
My FLGS said that even the destiny players were very meh about it
I think Disney and/or Asmodee are trying to get Fantasy Flight's foot into the door in big box stores like Target and Walmart, and the TCG model is potentially a better model for moving product in those stores than FFG's classic models. A $15 X-wing model or LCG expansion is a lot harder to sell as an impulse buy for a kid than a $3 Booster Pack.
That being said, I don't see how the new 2-player set plays into that, since the starter decks are an easier buy-in if it's just one kid.
Nevermind me

In fairness, I called the 2-player starter for Destiny several times as the one Force Friday item from FFG because it's not just a solid marketing idea, it also has precedence in the market. This is essentially an answer to the Magic Duel Packs - a set containing a pair of ready made theme decks for two players - that was received by existing Magic players with little to no warmth, but a set type that continues to do very well for itself outside of the starter boxes.
Essentially, given it has enough for 2 players ready to go, it becomes a great gift item for both gamers and SW fans alike. For those curious about the game, its all you need to play with a buddy or a coercible partner, without everyone investing in their own sets. This all means it can sit really well beside the Pokemom and YuGiOh stuff in the toy store, just as it can sit in your FLGS with MTG.
I still can't understand the attraction of the game though.
I dont understand FFG's lack of Force Friday product. How can you not have multiple products ready to go on a huge day to sell product for the biggest movie of the year. Major missed opportunity for them. Sad.
Because the people Force Friday is aimed at are not the gamers who are probably going to pick up the components for a game anyway, but the kids and collectors who want shiny toys to sit on a shelf. The entire day is aimed at impulse purchases by the masses, not niche games on the edge of the fandom universe.
I will say it would be nice if FFG maybe did promo event cards for supporting FLGS, similar to the R2D2/IA combi card they did the the 40th Anniversary event, or the Fathers Day event (both X-wing), but I can see why they wouldn't; either it's a big investment in promo cards across all games for little or no return, or they have to play favourites among their games and pick one to support on the day (which will no doubt invite ire from players of the other games).
SWM28 is not the Executor.
WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?!
He's at quarterback for the Patriots. I don't see how that's relevant.
Amusingly enough, since i didn't blow $100+ on some unexpected new toy mid-trip, i actually will be buying Destiny.
Specifically, the video game due out this coming Wednesday.
