With 2 Mandalorian Gauntlet squadrons coming in the Chimera expansion, it could be possible that we could see a new set of squadron packs to bring the number of different squadrons back to equal.
If this is the case, could the Rebel faction get U-Wings to fit in with the Profundity?
Any other ideas for what could make up the remaining squadrons would also be interesting.
I don't see any reason to try to even up the number of squadrons. The Rebels have had 1 more ship since day 1, now the Empire has 1 more squadron.
I can wait for another wave or two before we see more rebel fighters, to be honest.

I agree. I'm more than happy to wait through several waves without squadron packs. I would not mind them releasing a few squadrons within ship expansions like the chimaera at some point though.
I bet if we get U-wings, they'll be with the MC-75

We're due a second campaign with new aces for Squadrons 2 (or Rogues and Villains, although that seems much less likely) any month year whenever now.
That said, they could always put U-Wings in with whatever Rebels Wave 8 box is, if they wanted to.
Rebels:
U wing: as a new boarding transport (relay ship?).
K wing: new heavy bomber.
Imperial:
TIE Avenger: slightly tougher than an interceptor, possibly with snipe as standard (so to differentiate from other imp fighters if nothing else).
Scimitar bomber: heavy bomber that looks way cooler than the ridiculous TIE punisher.
Missile boat: variant heavy bomber but with long range dice?
Broadly speaking however, I don’t feel there has to be exact parity of squadrons or ships with each faction. And if there were to be a further fighter pack for either faction, I think they could include new squadron cards for existing models rather than add a new type for the sake of it, eg: TIE Defender elite & Lando & Falcon.
I think the rebels will get a repainted quasar in a few waves which will come with a pair of u wings.

Exactly, it is bad enough with only 2 factions the mirror is very common, we don't need to make the factions a dark mirror of each other.

Agreed, but I would prefer to avoid cross faction ships while we only have 2 factions at the time.
