Episode VIII Expansions?

By railwayman001, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I know that this is X-Wing-related, but I can't seem to find anywhere else on the forums where this would have relevance. I'm a little disappointed over how Fantasy Flight Games revealed that their new product for Force Friday would be a two-player complete version of Destiny , and I had hoped that maybe they would have revealed some additional expansions for X-Wing Wave XII tying into The Last Jedi . For instance, I would think this would include a Resistance version of the A-Wing (maybe as the Resistance A-Wing Expansion Pack), as well as, duh, Kylo Ren's TIE fighter (either as the First Order TIE Silencer Expansion Pack, Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter Expansion Pack, Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer Expansion Pack, TIE Silencer Expansion Pack, or TIE/vn Expansion Pack). Maybe the Resistance Bomber, based on its description according to Wookieepedia, is also a starfighter of some kind, even though it appears to look more or less like a medium-sized capital ship. I'd say pilots for the A-wing should include Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and either squadron pilots for Red, Blue, or Cobalt squadrons, while the TIE Silencer's pilots should definitely include Kylo Ren (maybe with his unique condition "I'll Show You the Dark Side," perhaps?) Other TIE Silencer pilots should maybe include pilots from Omega Squadron (the First Order's elite, like maybe an Omega Ace or Omega Specialist). As for the Resistance Bomber, assuming it's starfighter-sized and thus appropriate for X-Wing, its pilots should belong to Cobalt Squadron. Do any of y'all think otherwise? The Resistance "bomber" appears to look more or less like a medium-sized capital ship to me, thus making it completely inappropriate for X-Wing, yet the way Wookieepedia describes it the ship appears to have characteristics that would make it a starfighter that drops bombs similar to the TIE bomber and B-wing. (Of course, maybe FFG will reveal the truth hours after this has been posted, so maybe we'll learn then. If not, please share your thoughts.)

I'm expecting some announcement articles this afternoon, still. We've got 3 SKUs unaccounted for.

At a wild stab, Kylo's TIE, Resistance A Wing, and an epic of some sort.

Force Friday's not over yet. In some areas of the world, it's barely even started.

There'll be announcements by end of day.

And sadly, Force Friday is now over all across the world, and there were actually no announcements at the end of the day. Weird. I mean, for Force Friday when Episode VII: The Force Awakens FFG released the sequel trilogy core game, and then did the first two expansion packs based on the standard Resistance X-wing and standard First Order TIE fighter on the day the film was released. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had its own Force Friday last year at the start of September, and that was when FFG announced the Rebel Alliance U-Wing and Imperial TIE Striker, both of which were released on the day the film came out in theaters. So this is weird. I have to wonder if maybe FFG is waiting for the film to come out so that way it can do expansion packs based on the Resistance A-wing and Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer and have appropriate ship (with appropriate stats for pilot skill value, hull value, shield value, attack value, defense value, and squadron along with unique pilot abilities and what upgrade cards they can equip) and upgrade cards (including upgrades only intended for the particular ships) as well as maneuvers and dials that appropriately tie in with the ships in the film? Maybe that's the reason why.

Tie Silencer and the Resistance A-wing are the obvious small ship choices. Unless there are more ships yet to be revealed.

The new Resistance A-wing looks like it has been flattened and stretched to make it even more streamlined so hopefully its got the speed to match.

After those two I have to say the Resistance Bomber. From what I understand the it is supposed to be like the old WWII bombers where they got various gun turrets and plenty of bombs to drop. I'm guessing it has an up armored version of the Millennium Falcon's cockpit, has a large bomb bay and will be placed in the large ship category.

I think wave 13 / SW VIII will be a boost to the Rebels. The new A Wing and Resistance Bomber leading the way. Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer may well be the main new FO ship. Bearing in mind we haven't seen the Force Awakens Resistance Transport yet or the FO Troop Transport yet. (though not sure where that one will fit in to X Wing). The film will no doubt give us few more as yet un-revealed new ships, that might find their way into X Wing. After all who would have expected the Quad Jumper to show up?

So, finally, we have both the Resistance Bomber and First Order TIE Silencer ready to be expansion packs, but they will likely be released when Episode VIII comes out in theaters. The only other ships I think need expansions are the Resistance Transport Pod, simply because it appears to be able to fight in combat based on what I saw of the Lego set, and the Resistance A-wing. Too bad, though, that the First Order has yet to have equivalent ships (although I think the TIE/sf fighter might be the equivalent to the A-wing while the TIE Silencer is obviously the equivalent to Poe Dameron's X-Wing, featured in the Heroes of the Resistance Expansion Pack).

I've only seen this logo for the Resistance used by FFG.

So does that make the paint scheme used in episode 8 homage to FFG?
