I'm pretty sure those are from the Battlefront 2 trailer... sorry mate...

Boo. Thanks for letting me know.

I will add: it's super annoying that I can't actually find the official trailer. I'm at work so I'm trying to be discreet about it and finally get around to seeing it. I've literally watched about 8 trailers and after that mistake, I'm realizing they're all freaking fanmade ones.

All this Starkiller Base, Mega Star Destroyer stuff rubs me the wrong way: as if the FO didn't lear from the mistakes of the past but deliberately tries to repeat them.

had a terrible dream where i woke up to 8 having a 6.6 review. 60 KM's, jesus. So when do we see this hit the table ;)

But, it is at least better blended into the story in a way that isn't as obviously a copy of ANH, at least on first inspection.

Honestly, I think the only reason it's so obvious in TFA is the original cast is there. It really draws it out... like... wait, I've seen this... 40 years younger, before.... lol

My issues with TFA had nothing to do with them taking advantage of the hero's tale storyline again and more to do with the writing/directing styles of modern movies. I am tired of the main heroes being unstoppable juggernauts in everything they do.

Finn was hands down the most interesting character because of that. He was a lousy stormtrooper. He choked in his first fight. He got shot down fleeing. He got stomped fighting TR-8R. He got spines fighting Kylo Ren. Yet he was there every step. Disney went and screwed all of that up when the backstory got filled in and Finn was suddenly the best in his squad and blah blah.

Han and Poe being over the top good at their specific skills are fine because they aren't the ones telling the story.

I for one one did enjoy the attack on starkiller base. The Death Star attack was the worst planned and executed military attack I've seen in a movie. Starkiller base was an exercise in how to do that more intelligently.

You're probably very right on that being a big reason it's so obvious the first viewing.

Hey the game is a sliding scale right? All we need is the Executor to be like, 1 inch larger than an ISD, and then this thing can STILL be bigger than the whole darned table!

It's slightly more than 3 executors, so it can be the table with no problem

make it a 6x3 playmat by just trimming off the wings a bit.

Feel free to repeat this experiment with your own cities, but this is the approximate wingspan of Supremacy , from where I play clear across Atlanta and then some.

LOL. The entire population of my state could live comfortably on that ship.

If you stuck a wingtip at the deepest point of the Marianas Trench, Mt. Everest would still only reach up 1/3 of it.

Thanks Disney

Lol with that example it would reach beyond the stratosphere and into the mesosphere. I sort of hate this ship. The biggest frustration i have with both of these new ships is that instead of making these normal sized ships that could pose new roles and serious threats they instead decided to just make new super weapons. Thrawn is rolling in his presumable grave.

Having said all of that, it's not the biggest piece of nonsense ever made in the star wars movie universe, the death star is still a ship and DRAMATICALLY larger than either of these two nonsense ships. I just wish they went in a different direction

See, that's reasonaby sized. People are acting like it's some monstorous behemoth. If the Death Star can work the Supremacy can work no problem.

Like I don't understand how people can accept the Death Star is operational but this somehow isnt.

As usual, the Empire, sorry, First Order, are over compensating for something. Oh well, on screen I'm sure it'll be fine.

FWIW I seem to remember in the mid 80s, the first Death Star was really just the prototype for the real 2nd Death Star which they started before ANH (as an excuse for having DS2 in ROTJ). And then Lucas made up the details for the prequels which threw everything out.

Just accept it all. Its a set of movies, it doesn't have to make absolute sense, just be entertaining and enjoyable.

Not sure if it has been said yet but, Pablo Hidalgo has just come out saying that the MSD's 60 KM length is actually is wingspan.

I knew it! A 60km long mobile hq/shipyard, I'm liking it already.

This is a fair point.

Is it less feasible than a hyper spacing moon? This new ship is actually post-empire on a budget.

Good pic Mel. (also, since the Chimera announcement I have commenced hiding money from the wife to save up for one of your Lucrehulk star destroyers.... wish me luck)

In Episode IX the SnokesStar is going to be larger than the entire universe. Supremacy Mega Star Destroyers will be like nanites inside that thing.

I'm one with the table, and the table is me.

It's fine for a movie, but we can't fit it in Armada... and that is precisely where the problem lies.

I think my problem with it is, where did they get all the resources from to make all the stuff? Maybe that will be explained in the next few movies but as for now I thought they were kind of in hiding with limited resources.

Empire was a galaxy wide militarized government with almost unlimited resources. So that's explainable as to how they made so much stuff.

The First Order, as far as I know I haven't read any of the books, has been in hiding slowly building up their forces. What did they find though, a system of planets with 100% natural resources and some kind indigenous species on every single planet to enslave and make every single thing they needed?

Seems like A pretty huge stretch.

Yeah. They were supposed to be a secret organization. Yet they managed to fund the construction of a starship with the wingspan of the Death Star and convert a planet into a gigantic superweapon. And never thought about "Gee.... I wonder how half the income of the whole galaxy goes...?" The Death Star almost crippled the newly formed Empire and DSII destroyed the economy of several planets so just imagine of the impact of those monstrosities! I wonder when they are going to introduce a whole mobile weaponized star system. Ep IX?

They are secret only because they exist in the unknown regions of the galaxy.

They have had nearly 30 years to centralize and mold this substantial section of space into exactly what they want. Its far fetched, sure. But its not out of the realm of possibility set by the star wars setting.

Yeah, too bad they didn't put all that manufacturing capability into a few ships and wings of fighters around Starkiller Base.....

Hopefully the new "flying shipyard" will have a fleet along with it.
