I agree with you on your points for regular gamers supporting their LGS and FFG not permitting LGS vendors to be aware of the content of their purchase beforehand. However, I think selling the item at mass market retailers is not an issue for the 2-player intro set. The mass market retailers gives more opportunity for the product to grow to reach other folks who don't go to LGS and such.

Yeah - I get that putting the starter set in a big box is an ultimate plus for the game and for LGSs - I'm more upset at the way it was handled for the LGS. "hey guys, blind buy a ton of stuff on faith and before you even get the shipment in it'll be on sale at tons of other places that can and will undercut you on price."

I've got a couple buddies who own LGSs and after seeing how HARD they work to make places for nerds like me to feel safe and welcome in - I just get extra defensive at anything I perceive to hurt their already long odds.

I agree. Not sure if FFG handled it that way to make sure there was no release information due to licensing. However, I don't see why FFG couldn't have informed the LGS the product was for Destiny to allow the owners to gauge their interest in buying the product.

It was a Force Friday product. FFG had no say in how it was handled.

Where are you getting this information from?

Yeah, Target use to carry X-Wing until they had to do the heavy discounts to clear the inventory that wasn't selling. It makes sense for Target to carry Destiny along side MTG. Does it make sense for FFG to pay for that shelf space beside MTG when Destiny boosters cost so much more than MTG boosters to make and the margins just aren't there?

Your store must have a huge mark up on Destiny boosters. The price from FFG'S site is $2.99 a pack, I get mine at Barnes & Noble for $2.95 and MtG booters are $4.18

Disney works with many manufactures to roll out Force Friday and they all play by the same rules, least they are suppose to. It is a huge coordinated effort to have all those products hit all those retail outlets on the same day without leaks.

Destiny boosters are 2.99 here. I don't buy MTG anymore and wouldn't pay $4 for a booster with maybe $2 worth of cards.
