Hello, i'm new

By goncardoso, in Mansions of Madness

Hi, so i just bought this game up and i have to say well done ! It's so immersive and cool .
Will it be continued after next expansion or the game is dying ? i'm feeling on buying the expansions for it , are they worth it ?

I own it all and have painted and based them all. I'd say its worth it but my son's middle name is lovecraft and I have cthulhu statues allover my house so I'd say I'm biased. The DLCs are good too.

that's good i really need a lovecraft fan to this :) still couldnt play it but i would like to hear u out about the expansions . What is the best or should pick up first ?
and since u love lovecraft that much , maybe u know good novels in is universe ? with elder ones and chtulhu maybe in it ? beside the original work ofc

To be honest Lovecraft is a bit of a dry read. A good read but very dated. If you are looking to get a good grounding in the universe I suggest the Fantasy flight Arkham novels. They flesh out the characters and explain the different regions quite well. I didn't buy the expansions since I owned them all fro the first edition. Sadly I donate know what it is not not have it all because of this.

If you want to get into Lovecraft the colour out of space was one of my favourites. Dagon is a must. When you are ready for something longer The Call of Cthulhu is sure to please. I also have a soft spot for the rats i the walls (Be ready for some racism). Good writer, not the most tolerant. I think he was pretty much afraid of everyone. :)

Go over to the HP Lovecraft Historical Society's webpage. They have some amazing items, especially the movies and their Dark Adventure Radio Theater!

ok thanks :)

A very restrictive/cherry picked reading list:

Dagon

Rats in the walls

-These two are great short stories that form the backbone of the lovecraftian mythos.

Shadow over Innsmouth

Dunwich Horror

-These are suspenseful.

The colour out of space. -This is easily one of his best.

The shuttered room (cowritten with August Derleth). -This one binds together the innsmouth and dunwich stories. It's a bit much to begin with this straight after as it recalls some of the earlier events, so you want a spacer in between.

From there, you can go on reading pretty much anything.

If you have a favourite investigator(s), then pick the expansions that those come in. If you are new to this, I'd recommend Recurring Nightmares, then Beyond the Treshold and finally Suppressed Memories. The not-yet-available expansion, Streets of Arkham, is the best one, as you get a lot of different stuff to enhance replayability.
