If you liked Dust Warfare.....

By cookluke5150, in Star Wars: Legion

you are going to love this game. If you have not played Dust Warfare then you are in for a real treat... from reactions to suppression... to the battle builder to determine what the battle conditions will be. We have played Dust for about 5 years and always hoped they would use that rule set for a star wars game since FFG owned the rights. This is an exciting time in gaming and I do believe a year or 2 from now this will be the top minis game and have a great tourney scene.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of elements of Dust in here. Definitely a positive, as Dust had some of the best ideas I've seen in a war game in places!

Never gave Dust a look because of the goofy theme. Good news, then.

I bought the rulebook but never got into it because the models were, being kind....horrible.

But the actual rules were genuinely excellent, and i'm glad they have taken a lot from them.

The concept of suppression, similar also to what AT-43 incorporated, makes for a healthy game. I see other aspects of Dust Warfare here

too, which pleases me.

I'm not fond of troops running to the deployment edge, but it will be fun to gun down retreating units as well as what it offers in preventing active squad maneuvering.

Better a design than if demoralized models were removed, for this game IMO.

Glad some seasoned mini gamers are appreciating the fine work with Legion thus far.

what were the rules for suppression in Dust?

If an incoming attack scores a hit ( after cover but before saves) then the unit gets a suppression marker. The suppression can stack up. The next time that unit activities it rolls one die per suppression marker to try and shrug it off. If it fails it loses one action (out of two) when activating. It also can't react when suppressed. If a unit has more markers than miniatures left it must retreat to the nearest edge and is eliminated if it reaches it. A suppressed unit automatically gets soft cover as well. At the end of each round one suppression marker is removed from each unit in most game conditions.
