Intensity, Is it worth it?

By Fort Defender, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have a fleet ready to take to a tournament, a double b wing and an a wing fleet. With Jake Farrell behind the controls of the a wing, should I spend the money to make a PLT and Intensity combo on Jake? I was thinking it would look like this:

Jake Farrell-24

PTL-3

Intensity-2

A-wing title-0

Refit- -2

Keyan Farlander-29

Swarm leader-3

Tractor beam-1

B wing title-1

Jan ors-2

Nera Dantels-26

Adaptability-0

FCS-2

Ion cannon-3

Flechette torps-2 x2

B wing title-1

nien nunb-1

Any comments are appreciated.

In that list? Do whatever you want. Conventional X-wing wisdom doesn't apply to anything you posted.

I don't think you need to get intensity right now. Push the limit will be fine. It will allow you to do a bit different list which I will suggest.

Jake Farrel - veteran instincts, cruse missle, a wing test pilot, auto thrusters, push the limit (33)

Keyen Farlandar - rage, b wing E2, inspiring recruit (32)

Nera Dantels - deadeye, fire control systems, extra munitions, proton torpedoes (35)

This list will pile on the damage in a hurry. Which is what you need because you need to win fast if you play b wings. B wings can be focused down pretty fast with that one agility. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the response and will try it out. Thanks.

I love Jake Farrell and Keyan Farlander. I cut my teeth on Rebel Aces a few years ago. I still play both of them when I can.

Now I will lay on some of that conventional X-wing wisdom I mentioned before. (It was a quick response; I was pressed for time.)

On the subject of spending money: If you are playing casually, then save money by proxying cards. If you are playing competitively, then every card you need for a list is an investment worth paying for.

On the subject of B-wings. Run them lean. This...

...is one of my preferred Farlander builds. Pairing B-wings with another threat that can't be ignored is another good way to run them without Biggs.

I agree with the rage/insp recruit on Keyan posted above, but Intensity Jake is fun. I personally think intensity is better on Poe, but to each their own.

As for Nera, take off the ion cannon and put plasma or proton torps on her with EM. Than take off numb and put on guidance chips. Nera typically doesn't last long, so make the most out of what shots you have. Proton torps with chips typically do a lot of damage.

This is a list I ve tried and works great:

Keyan + Swarm leader + FCS + E2 + C-3PO

Jake + Intensity + Juke + Refit + Title

Kyle Katarn + TLT + Jan Ors + Title + Pulsed Ray Shield.

there is no better tag team in the game than Kyle and Jake and intensity makes it even better.

Crucial factor for Intensity for me is to have either some way of generating more than one token in a round, or of keeping one token reliably until the end of a round *without* using Intensity to do it.

From testing, the most difficult bit of Intensity is getting it face up again if you have to flip it down and can't get it back that round.

So, the list of pilots for whom it's good is *short*

Poe
Vader
Snap (maybe)
Anyone with R7-T1 (maybe)
Guri
Anyone with Glitterstime (Maybe)
Jake (but giving up either VI or PTL are both huge sacrifices)
TIE/x7 defenders
Sabine
Maybe the Moldy Crow or someone with Rey crew.

Intensity is great but really, really difficult to use.
