Phantom II possibilities

By Jadotch, in X-Wing

This ships specs lead to some cool combos, even though it is as ugly as sin.

We have the Stressbug, which is: R3-A2 + a Tactician or Gunner

We have the one that ignores stress: Stay On Target + Hera Crew + Targeting Astromech

Then we have the always intense: Intensity + Recon Spec + R7-T1

Because of its looks and the fact that there are no unique pilots, I do not want to like this ship, but so far it does not seem half bad with the tricks it can pull off. Things that kept the ARC-170 back seem to work well the pilots and price here. (Although I do want to try the Intensity Combo on Norra.) Plus you have Rebel regen.

Thoughts on this little guy? Other interesting combos?

Basically a.......10000% more possibilities for Coordinate than the Empire got with the Upsilon.

#1. Its a super low pt cost ship for such a crazy powerful action.

#2. Rebles have biggs....and rex....

The coordinate shuttle is going to likely get the best used while protected to keep coordinating. There are 2 very solid ways of doing so.

The obvious one is Biggs/Lowhhrick and from that might spawn FSR 3.0. I'm overall not too interested in that personally.

The second one is docking it inside a Ghost (Lothal Rebel) and using the Phantom II title for the extremely powerful end of activation coordinate. Partner that with Corran, Norra, Poe, or anything that benefits from repositioning with that coordinate.

If the PS1 (AP-5) PII pilot is costed at 15 or lower and Nathan Eide decides to use Corran with that, then God help us.....

i expect it may be. with the top shuttlebug shaving 2 points off the top attack shuttle and ap5 placed below zeb..... i'd guess @ 14-16 with a ps 1 and ability that's just there for the sake of having one.

So happy the Stressbug term is catching on. :)

Depending on the Dial, Hera or Maul may be a nice option too. Not deal as much stress, but you would get to keep the pressure more.

I got it

the Phantom 1 plus the Phantom 2 equals 3.

Half Life 3 is coming and that is a possibility now.

I use to run Jax/Inquisitor & Omega Leader with a VI'd Adv Sensor Kylo. Simply because Coordinate was so powerful. That was at PS8 too... This ship can create simply broken combos that will be the equivalent of the prenerf Phantom.

It's gonna be ridiculous.

Imagine Nathan Eide's Hoth list but instead of the Range 1 restriction on Ahsoka it is 1-2 and your ability also helps Biggs survive longer.

If Rebels get any True Ace within the 35 point range, this thing is gonna be broken. (TLJ A-Wings could potentially be this)

Edit: Like seriously, it's not even hard to come up with a list that's super strong for it right now... Fenn/Biggs/Rex/Nora should not fit in a 100 point list. But it does and there's even some room to shape your Nora how you like her. Try alpha off Rex with an Evade/Focus. Or build Nora standard or even go with DTF/Jyn/R2-D2/Experimental Interface and make your jousting Value even higher than Fair Ship Rebels is currently. Oh you also have 4 ships, yeah 3 of them are two attack dice ships, but with title and ability Nora is really a 4 attack die ship. Matching the 11 red dice of Fair Ship with probably about an equal or better survivability with Regen Nora, DTF, Fenn Rau, Biggs, and Rex.

Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) (20)
Veteran Instincts (1)
"Chopper" (0)
Phantom II (0)

Biggs Darklighter (25)
R4-D6 (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Norra Wexley (29)
Draw Their Fire (1)
Jyn Erso (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Experimental Interface (3)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Captain Rex (14)

Total: 100

Depending on what Maul does, him with Ezra could be an interesting combo.

Recon Spec has no combo at all with Intensity. Thought I think Intensity/R7-T1 should actually work generally.

If Hera/SoT/TA was good ARCs would use it.

Stressbug is going to be A Thing though.

Mostly, I can see it being used for a cheap way of throwing lots of actions to friendly ships - Equip Jyn Erso and Experimental Interface, throw an action plus up to 3 focus tokens to whoever's nearby, repeat next round.

Agreed!

Yes, we've looked at the Wave and agree this IS the power ship of the Wave. Synergy wins; this ship does that super-powerfully, SUPER-cheap.

Coordinate is great on the overpriced Upsilon Cow; this ship in your typical Biggs uber-power list is going to be the new meta; strap in boys, it'll be everywhere!

For Recon Spec you are right, (I had her wording confused with Jan Ors), but throw Rey on there ...
ARCs don't use it because of pilot skill level. Granted it does not sync well with Fenn, but pilot skill level was a major reason why it was never used too often on ARCs.

The other point to bear in mind is that it only has 2 dice of attack, so investing a lot in making its attacks useful is probably a pointless investment. Its attacks are never going to do much unless you stick Finn in it.

Finn might well be worth sticking in it though.

What about rear gunner? -1 green dice is a pretty decent offensive boost.

And at two points, it might be worth it. After playing a bit with Backdraft, this actually sounds pretty good.
