Tournament Raddus

By BrobaFett, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I think Raddus is a thematic success but provides a one time effect of moderate utility. That said, I think there is a way to get a solid effect out of him that can be tournament competitive. This was my thought-

The idea here is that Raddus allows you to load up the MC30 in hyperspace, but playing it in an MSU means that even without the MC30 you retain 5 activations, mitigating the Raddus drawback of reducing activation count until the target is out of hyperspace, and even in combat prior to the hyperspace drop the the fleet is deadly with it's swarm of hammerheads. Plan would be to fly the hammerheads in a tight formation toward the enemy, with the goal of blocking a desired target in, while Raddus himself is not so point heavy or important to keep alive (once the MC30 is on the board) that the CR90 cannot meaningfully participate as well.

When your hammerheads crash into the enemy, the MC30 gets to guarantee one of it's best and fanciest tricks - the double side arc. Since you can drop the ship out of hyperspace anywhere so long as a portion of it's base it touching distance 1 of your ships, with your hammerhead blocking an enemy to keep it in position you can drop the MC30 out of hyperspace with a double side arc cleanly lined up. The enemy ship can activate, but ram a hammerhead and stay right in place, and eat 6 black 4 blue from the MC30 even with no concentrate fire (in my tests I found it better to have a nav command dialed than CF so you didn't get stuck ramming yourself, but YMMV). Add in H9 and APT and you can nearly ensure a dead target. Works exceptionally well with the objectives chosen which are oriented around positioning your hammerheads to get that sweet Raddus drop or to make that one target a huge point sink for you. Thoughts?
