More repeats?

By Jukey, in Star Wars: Armada

With the chimera present and the fact that ffg isn't unwilling to put a new twist on an existing design, will we see more repeat ships in the future?

I wouldn't mind a VSD support, but not much else comes to mind. Do you think we'll see more or was the ISD just in need of more flexibility?

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen request for Imperial Nebulon B Frigates, this would definitely be a way to provide that option, while allowing FFG to save money on creating a new ship, and also providing an easy source of new/old/errata cards.

Personally, I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure if I prefer FFG provide an Assault Frigate mk1, or just finally breakdown and get the mk2 to use with a mk1 miniature from Shapeways.

I'd rather see any VSD re-release done through a campaign. Because to be honest, I don't want another VSD model, as the owner of two cores and a VSD pack, three is already too much.

Repeats of threads simultaneously?

Looks like

We're trying to copy X-Wing's example of re-releasing the same thing, just with a slightly different name.

Oops I didn't look far enough down the thread list.

I'm glad I didn't buy that third ISD pack now.

At least my third one will be "different" now.

I hate re-released stuff. I typically buy all I would ever want to field. So when they repaint models and re-release them with a few extra pieces of paper or cardboard, I'm just wasting money on plastic that will never see the light of day. When those start piling up, I lose interest in the game as it starts looking like a cash grab by FFG. I got sick of chasing all the extra stuff in X-Wing.

Campaign boxes are already established as a useful, and relatively cheap way to offer new versions of old units. Lets stick to that.

It's the same thread but with a new paint job!

I did the latter. Not regretted it

Exactly. And they have the added benefit of providing a new campaign, with potentially new and fresh mechanics to keep players interested. And like you say, it's cheaper for them, for us, and mean we don't end up with extra, unnecessary plastic.

I for one welcome our new campaign overlords.
