for the love of Yoda don't make cards like this (reducing card clutter)

So 7 movies, 3 cartoon series and hundreds of books and comics don't help?

Star Wars is special. It hardly needs more fiction. Other war games lean on the books to sell players on how cool their armies are.

This game features a bunch of army guys that don't typically Star in Star Wars. Technical fiction or world building fiction on things like the salvaged walker in core set is hard to come by. So something like an rpg source book from FFG that covers those things would be pretty cool.

I just hope they learned their lesson with X-Wing and Armada. Both hit a point where every release results in 2,678,4,26,784 questions on how interactions work due to upgrade stacking, or, every unit becomes a xmas tree of different upgrades.

I was on board until you asked for dry erase markers...

The real issue is table space. Some tournaments may not have the required 6" space on both players end to lay down cards. It has happened in Armada. Otherwise, I have no problem with using cards. I really like how it works.

Unfortunately (in this case) this is just like pre-painting, there's nothing that's gonna change it. The good news (as it were) is that making up custom cards that just build Heavy Weapons options and bonus Troopers into the base card is easy to do and unlikely to cause any major problems (since both are WYSIWYG on the table). It doesn't solve anything in the other slots, but the Add One Trooper cards are just stupid and could've easily been put on the main card as "You may have an additional Trooper for x points".

Agreed.

This is just part of the growing pains for a new game. I'm hopeful that when they are at the point of doing re-prints of the game they would address these kinds of issues.

I'd be really surprised if anyone even at Worlds actually required that card to be on the table. I mean it's even less useful than some of the 0 point titles in X-Wing...

Just because the scale of X-Wing and Armada doesn't provide clear WYSIWYG doesn't mean that it won't be a thing in a game where the scale of the game does.

It has already been mentioned that the AT-rt will come with the plastic for it's attachments.

Most game shops already have 6x4 tables to accommodate 40k, and legion is 6x3. There's your extra 6".

It only takes 1 tournament to leave a bad taste in your mouth. I agree for the most part the cards will not be a problem. But it takes 1 tournament where you play 3+ rounds and don't have enough space to put all of your stuff before people get annoyed.

True, but that's an issue the LGS or whoever is running the event needs to sort out. 4x6 is pretty standard for wargaming and if a LGS wants to sponsor such a thing they need to have the tables for it. The only reason they wouldn't is if they were really MtG store.
