Wraith Equivalents

By Hepitude, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Are wraiths the start of asymmetrical units? I kinda hope so, but what would Daqan get to counter if the units were being matched? It kinda feels like archer units get paired with cavalry units so maybe another archer set for Daqan? If not, I think light cavalry units with ranged attacks would be awesome. Best of both worlds.

I'd like to see another siege option for Daqan. I'm not very knowledgable with the lore, so it might not make sense, but I'd love a big canon for Daqan or a trebuchet maybe.

With Dwarves! :D

I like that. Another cool thought could be a normal sized wizard for Daqan, but one powerful enough to merit a large base and be classified as siege rather than hero.

As long as Dwarves still get their own faction!

That would be awesome too. To be honest the only thing that wouldn't really excite me is if they start adding more infantry options for Daqan. Like hey, we got swordsmen for you now!

I think the factions should have a standard generic trooper, maybe ranged and melee, but the real fun happens when we get the crazy unique and specialist units.

Something like...

I like that alot. I bet we'll see the Siege Golem as a super heavy unit, like the elf pegahorse and the waiqar undead dragon and I'm thinking the uthuk will get a pit demon.

I love the idea of a more powerful wizard tho for the Daqan, I think we'll see that as their next hero release.

Wizards are also a ton of fun to paint!

I think what could be cool is heavy infantry. They teased it in the Lore Book.

I think Daqan will get the Ironbound next, suits of armor animated by Nerekhall warlocks to combat corrupt warlocks and enemies of the realm.

I don't really like how siege Golems look there. Would rather have Ironbound or a mage unit to fling magic at range.

So many potential design choices! Can't wait to see what comes next.

I also like stuff like dwarves for Daqan, lizardmen for elves, etc

I hope. Although I did not play Daqan so far, they seem very straightforward, and Irounbounds could inject a little bit of fun to them, if they are designed as the Lore Guide suggests: very powerful but sometimes acting out of their own will...

I like Heavy Infantry or Witch-hunters as the next unit. Witch-hunters could have some kind of power to neutralize wraiths or maybe remove marks.

Ironbound could be REALLY tough units for Daqan, but maybe condition-linked to a squishy wizard who takes them down if he dies? I think that could make for some great gameplay choices.

I hope not. Getting mortal wounds and damage is very easy. Rune Golems are woefully fragile. I don't want something else that looks like it can take a hit then crumble easily.

I was thinking of having two separate units though, connected by a condition (or something). So you have really tough units running around causing damage, while your wizard controlling them hides at the back of the map.

Nevermind the Daqan I hope the next announced unit is a heavy infantry for Waiqar. Maybe 2 or 3 armour each and an ability that turns all mortal wounds against the unit to a regular hit instead.

Seems like Wraiths are the Waiqar version of Leonx Riders: a glass cannon assassin type cavalry. Do Daqan have something like that?

Ironbound could have their own take on the mortal strike resistance that the Death Knights rock. The precedent has been set...

Not going to lie the thought of a pure-spellcaster unit rather than just character upgrades sounds awesome.

Everything about them goes off runes, and Daqans already have ways to manipulate the runes. Give'm 2 different attacks, one off Red and one off Green while a defensive ability based off Blue.

Maro already kind of set that path since his attack is Redrune based.

I want to see Daqan paladins with an upgrade to heal wounds off of units.

And Violent Forces switches that to blue rune based.

i would LOVE for a way to heal my multiwounds, specifically the golems.

While not a paladin i seriously hope we get a Runeshaper hero that makes runegolems a severe problem. Makes them cheaper, hit harder, heals them, builds them, whatever it takes (not all of that at once).
I love runegolems aesthetics the most so far. Theyre good enough to field but if i were playing competitively i'd probably drop them sad to say. 2HP is seriously bad...if they were 5A or 3HP they'd be much much better (5A would basically mean 2x1 trays cant hurt you unless they roll perfect dice with the red/blue combo, making that low HP actually justified since any damage that DOES go through really, really sucks)

I say Paladins because they have precedence from Disk Wars.

Perhaps Golems will eventually get an upgrade card that buffs their wounds or armor cheaply to make them desirable again, or even just cancel mortal strikes with inspiration tokens?
