Unique character attachments

By suburbaknght, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

If I play a unique character from my conflict deck as an attachment, may I then discard another copy of that character from my hand to add fate to the attached character?

Example: Mirumoto Raitsugu is in play. I pay 3 Fate during an Action Window to play Togashi Kazue whom I attach to Raitsugu as an attachment. May I then discard another copy of Kazue from my hand to add 1 Fate to Raitsugu?

No.

I do not know the exact rules on unique characters as attachments, though. But in this particular question, no you are not adding fate to the unique character that you have another copy of.

No

You can only discard a copy of the same unique personality to place an extra fate on them

If Kazue is an attachment it has no fate on it. Raitsugu is the character which requires another copy of Raitsugu to place additional fate on him.

I wouldn't think so. I don't think there's any rule that allows you to add Fate to attachments, and nothing allows you to discard a unique character to add Fate to a different character.

In addition, if you have Kazue as attachment in play, you cannot also have Kazue as a character in play (and vice versa).

Thanks!

Also, assuming you played Togashi Kazue as a character outside of the dynasty phase (which you would have to since you can't play conflict characters in the dynasty phase), you would not be able to discard a copy of her to add fate to the one in play until the next dynasty phase, as the "discard a unique to place fate on a unique character with the same name" action is only legal during the dynasty phase.

But if you played Togashi Kazue as a character (as opposed to putting her into play), you could add fate to her so she makes it to a later dynasty phase.
