Just wanna say I am so pumped for this! When I was younger I used to love 40k and would save up my money to buy (incredibly expensive though they were) miniatures and paint them for hours. That said, since I was so young, and the rules were incomprehensible for me at that age, I never really got into playing the game, but just loved painting and collecting an army ahah. SO I'm hyped to actually get back into a tabletop miniatutes game where I can put my painting skills to use while also enter the world of competing and playing with local groups.
I'm interested to what extent the ground troops offer customisation and things in the box? I love the alien races in star wars, so I'm wondering whether we will get different heads and weapons on the sprues to create our own armies, or are they gonna be very formulaic. Y'know like, Ithorian heads and Rodian heads so we can have a nice mix of aliens for the rebels or are we stuck with just one lone Duros trying really hard to fit in amongst a sea of humans. I mean, the alliance is made of tonnes of races. I can imagine certain elite unites being bothans, or wookies for example, but I'd love it if it wasn't unit dependant so we could see a mix in the ground troops. Don't suppose anyone got a chance to ask about these things at Gencon?
Miniatures and Options
Well first off, no sprues. They come in a bag seperated into 2 or 3 pieces in the same way Rune Wars was. There is no customization unless you want to cut the heads or apendages off and do some surgery yourself. That's not to say at some point down the road they won't have options but until then it's very cookie cutter assembly.
