Rebels vs Imps: list building

By Jamborinio, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm not convinced the Imperials are actually in a stronger position right now (disclaimer I mainly play Imperials and when I do play Rebels, they are functionally imported Imperial builds). The difference has always been that Imperial ships are straightforward, Rebel ships aren't, and the reverse is true for squadrons. Of late, the Imperials have been making up a lot of ground, but I think the big issue holding the Rebels back is that their newest toys take more effort to develop and field effectively than their Imperial counterparts require. Case in point: Sloane vs Leia. One of these commanders is pretty straightforward, and once you see one successful list for her, they all fall in place. The other leads the Resistance. Same applies to E-wing vs Defender, Sato vs JJ, etc. Imperials have definitely made off hot with External Racks and DCaps, but even the much-maligned Assault Frigate is not in the same state the Victory was before those cards arrived. If we're going to discuss nerfs, Rhymer got thwacked over the head with a baseball bat as hard as Rieekan, and so did Demolisher. If we can do one thing, let's hold off bemoaning the inevitable extinction of the Alliance until we see the MC75 in full please. It's really not fair to say "Oh Thrawn, Raddus is fun but not competitive, new ISDs, Imps win Wave Heaven" before we see the new Rebel Large ship. Please?
