If you only were to get one ship from the new wave for casual play, which one would you pick?

By Zura, in X-Wing

Today i'm getting a new ship for my casual play, but recently i'm on a very limited budget. I want to try one of the newest ships (aggresor, scrugg, wookie ship) and i want to pick one that is both interesting to play as and against and feels at least a little bit different than older similar ships. I play only rebels and empire, but i guess captain nym for rebels seems like a good pick as well. I'm looking for one that i can build lists around (a lot of lists), because recently my listbuilding game got a little bit stale (i haven't bought a single new ship since Upsilon relase and i play once or twice a week so i played like every configuration that i own). Which one would you reccomend me to get?

Probably the Scurrg looks most interesting. Just be warned it costs a lot of points and goes down fast to focus fire.
The Aggressor isn't that interesting, its really TLT on a platform with BR. That's all.

That said, it took me a long time to get to decent good with the Upsilon. That is an incredibly versatile ship if we talk about fun. From EBaffle/Adv Sens Hux on Stridan, to cheap PS2 with FCSand Weapon Guidance, or even PS6 Kylo with EU or Expert Handling. Add the Title and Hyperspace comm relay and its truly an interesting ship. Coordinate out to R3 via Stridan is very very interesting.

I also find that the striker is good for adept players who want new movement challenges, it takes probably 10 games to stop hitting rocks even. Its quite a challenging ship, in the case you are looking for high level challenge.

Rey + Poe sounds like fun too.

And Whisper is an exciting challenge.

Also, Ywings launching torpedoes with no turrets.

I kind of really want a Scurrg. But I have so many ships, and the poor things don't get to come out and play nearly as much as I wished. (I have so many too).

Tie Aggressors have been really frustrating: I painted them, was very excited, got 2. Theyre only mediocre even with TLT and LWF. They actually do have a movement palystyle you must learn, but... meh.

Theyre so low on viable options, die in a fire to everything OP (like Dengar, kills one within a single turn).

The Scurrg. The Wookie canoe does nothing for me personally and as mentioned, the aggressor is pretty boring.

So i'm probably getting the scurrg. Thanks for the guidance, but one more question - what would you pair rebel captain nym with? Norra and Biggs? Dash/Falcon/Ghost? Bombing ships are always kind of confusing for me, because they're not meant for flying together.

If you are going for casual lists, pretty much anything, Let Nym be Nym :).

I bought a Scurrg, and wookiee ship. I personally have had more fun with the wookiee.

So let the wookiee win.

Save your money. Get Guns For Hire. Expand your horizons.

I'd take the Aggressor. It's a neat little ship and adds a TLT flanker to the empire's arsenal. Yes, it does things the other factions can already do, but in doing so enables new combos of ships and roles for the empire.

Alternatively, the Scurrg both has plenty of new combos, works in alpha strike and bombing roles, has a competitively strong pilot in Nym (both factions), gives you things for both scum and rebels, and is the current flavor of the month.

The Auzituck is competitively strong, but I have yet to find a build with it that I think is exciting.

The h6 is pretty fun to play, the wookie ship is pretty cool and downright op in the right lists. The aggressors are a little meh. I guess buying 4 for a real quad TLT lists for the empire could be interesting and semi-fun if you like turret ships, but in the end it still just a TLT lists which imho are usually boring. (Had a great game against Quad-TLTs yesterday, but that was based mainly on a pilot mistake when my opponent did hug one of my ship at range 1 with all four of his Y-Wings and could not get out for several turns.

So the h6 if you like bombers or the wookies if you like jousters.

I went with the Scurrg. Rebel and Scum pilots, and the ability to use turrets, bombs, missiles, crew or illicit astromechs. It's probably the most flexible of the three.

Save money for Guns for Hire... :D

I just bought the Aggressor, because I will buy every Empire ship they throw at me, unless it's the most stupid and ugly thing ever.

I played a very casual game the same day, and i didn't bother playing with it as i hate turrets with a passion. And the ship feels very dull. I decide to play with ships i like more (Defender, SF, Striker)

If you're decided to buy one wave 11 ship, i think the Scurrg is a nice choice, even though i won't be buying it. I'll save money for the red StarViper. I don't like most scum ships (and i only own a few) but the Starviper is gorgeous.

Probably pair him with Corran, Dash, Miranda or Rey, in order to be sure to avoid Nym Bombs. But there are interesting alternatives

Fun option 1)Nym+Jake Farrel + Poe (PS8) (With intensity both).

Fun option 2) Nym+Keyan Fartander+Other fun ship which costs around 30 pts (U-Wing/A-Wing/HWK)

As a dedicated imperial player I could take the aggressor, as the only imperial ship.

If not, the Scurrg, because I was a fanatic Elite plater whem I was a child, and I'm a fanatical Elite Dangerous player now. And the Scurrg is basically, an Elite ship.

I don't have one, as it's just not Star Wars to me, but I can tell you the Scrrug is the absolute best ship of the wave. It's out of the box, ready to go OP with very little non-included parts, and arguably the best ship in the game. You can pair him with anything; Rebel Nym with Dash or Miranda are fantastic and on the Scum side adding Dengar to Nym makes a simple and powerful list. Heck, you can pair him with almost any underused meta ships almost at a whim and he still pulls the list up towards the elite. Put simply, you can't go wrong with it, it's the best of the best if you want to win.

Yes, the Jumpmaster is probably still top ship of the game stat wise, but the Scrrug is just about right there too.

Aggressor.

Never flew the Scurrg in SWG, but had an Aggressor, and they were a pain to fly against - the only AI small ship with a turret that actually used it's turret against you. Plinking away as you chased.

I actually have really enjoyed the wookie gunship, the two crew are pretty versatile, both the generics and lowrick give you different ways to play them, and i like thinking about how to fly the small base 180* arc.
