It'd be cool if some participants would be willing to post recordings of their matches, or maybe even announce them for other folks to spectate.

We'll be streaming a few games weekly! Here's a VOD of the first game with some great commentary by @I Fight Dragons and @crowofgames

Just wanted to throw out that the OCTGN mod for L5R is up and running, and is a much better building and playing experience than TTS. Any chance you could add it as an allowed format?

I am guessing that if you and your opponent both agree, you can play in whatever format you want. If you happen to be close enough, print proxies and play! But if you can't agree, then you use TTS.

However, the cut will be in TTS, and that is what is expected to be used.

TTS was chosen for logistic considerations - there's a larger player base there and it works on more platforms. A decent percentage of participants indicated that OCTGN wouldn't work on their machines.

In the future Ringteki will be the standard and work on all platforms.

Awesome! My Discord tag is #2289, I'll sign in as soon as I get to my computer

mine is apparently #6049 though my discord user name (puts hand over head to avoid chorus of 'names have surname at front' is Evei Daidoji (I set discord up for an eve character originally)

Awesome. I'll be online in about 15 minutes

cheers..

Thanks again for the teaching game. TTS is nice though I would prefer a one click bow and unbow as I spend huge amounts of time misjudging the rotate option...

On the top right there is a man lifting weights (which I think adjusts the pressure to pick things up) and a button that says 15 degrees. You can change that to 90 degrees so when you use Q or E to rotate it just does it, and to rotate provinces just takes two clicks. I am learning this program and quite a few others as well to do this tourney. It's challenging but fun.

Thanks very much for that, it should make my gqames much faster (and easier mentally...)

I would have mentioned that had I not learned it myself in a later game last night lol

LOL. No worries, I think a lot of us are learning as we go.

You're welcome. Once I find all the little tricks and tools it has gotten easier.

I would suggest that everyone who signed up but still haven't got their match time figured out check the inbuilt Chollonge Messenger. It is supposed to send you emails when someone messages you, but it's not always the case (I've had a whole conversation in there and it never emailed me about any of the messages ive received). So there might be someone waiting for your response!

A list of short cuts that are helpful and only some are non-obvious. (This is from memory)

  • Alt: Zoom in on a card
  • Alt+shift: Peek at a facedown card (Good for mulligans and provinces)
  • Press a number (X) then click on a stack of cards: Draw X Cards
  • F: Flips cards (And Objects) upside down
  • R: Shuffle/Randomize
  • Q and E: Rotate your card Counter Clockwise and Clockwise respectively (Set the angle at the top, recommend 90 Degrees).
  • Hold down left click and then click right-click over a token container: Pick up extra tokens. (I Think, that if they are in the infinite bag, you don't automatically pick one up when you first left click, but over the bowls, you do, so keep an eye on how much you spend/keep via the counter).
  • G: 'Group' which will stack up cards
  • You can move (Slowly) around the table using WASD.
  • You can right click -> Search a deck for cards without revealing them, and then click and drag them out. They will appear in the orientation of the deck (IE face up or face down), good for choosing your stronghold province
  • You can select multiple objects using the standard box select. Good for moving a card with attachments. Just note you have to click outside of them to deselect.
  • Be careful, as you can accidentally click and drag the table. (Maybe this got fixed).
  • I currently recommend turning broken provinces sideways instead of upside down, since it is really hard to tell otherwise in TTS, since orientation is not obvious when you zoom in using alt. (I might do this in real life too).

Good tips all, the last is especially usedul as I remember peering myopically at the opposing provinces and trying to work out which was upside down. If my oppos dont object I might just remove the province from the slot entirely (not quite sure if there is any reason why it needs to remain) .

Don't remove it. We (Your opponents) will want to know what provinces you have and what we might run into next.

Also, it looks a lot clearer when you see the province turned sideways then a completely blank slot, as the blank slot looks like an invalid board state (And it personally would probably bother me, since THERE SHOULD BE A CARD THERE AHHHHHHHHHHHH).

Hey everyone, here's a growing playlist of VODs from the league for those who are interested! My first couple cuts are a bit rough as you'll see but you can skip the first 2-5 minutes and then get right into the action!

Quick question about TTS @Reiga . How do you have it that when you "mouse over" anything that the window automatically gets larger so you can see the card better? I always have to use my ALT button to do that.

I have added my discord tag to my league user name to make it easier to 'find'. Apparently you can change the name just for the league.

Does anyone have an answer for this little trick in TTS?

I am very frustrated using TT. Is there any way to sort a deck so that I can see how many copies of which cards are in the deck at a glance without searching every card in the deck? OCTGN is so much better for card games -_-

I save my decks in organized form. That way, I can easily check it prior to the game. Did you save your deck already shuffled up? If so, I'd recommend rebuilding it in order and then saving it and just remembering to shuffle before each game.

I do find it easier to miss stuff online but as its my best chance to improve i'll have to take it.

I am finding it difficult to beat live opponents so as I gently sink to the bottom of the rankings I'll just have to hope my chances improve! Fortunately 'sucking' doesn't particularly bother me which is fortunate considering...

There is also an online? deck builder for TTS. And some discussions of being able to take the data from fiveringsdb and feed it into TTS (Though that needs to be worked on, Alciende is unwilling to do the conversion).
