My dream table, would be an in scale deckplan of an imperial gozanti. Multiple levels that are set up in such a way that can be separated for each deck.
Star Wars wargame tables
I'll be creating a sullust board and if I can pull it off I want LED lit lava
If anyone is interested, this is what Mannett Point on Ord Mantell looks like:
I'm sure the table will be from closer up .
Edited by Force MajeureI think I want to do Dathomir. My Edge of the Empire group has run into a few skirmishes on the planet, so I've already got a place in mind. Imperial bunker on one end, landed Rebel vessel on the other, with a Sith temple in the middle. Jungle terrain pieces, fallen statues, maybe a rancor corpse and a crashed snub fighter.
I think I'll initially do a game mat. A full table would've awesome, but my wife and I are both minimalists, so a full table would be a hard sell...
Mustafar mat....with lots of walkways...because the floor is lava.
Edited by Audio WeaselWho's gonna be the first awesome person to make a table that features a Sarlaac pit?
I'd make a Sullust style table if I had the space, inspired by the BF reboot (aweful-ish game with horrible buisness practices attached, but great visuals). I'd rip a lot from that map (the horde mode version with reduced scale), but probably make it modular and have some additional terrain pieces to put on top. The setting would be after the planet defected to the RA, going together with the two armies I plan, a Sullust rebel force that represents the bulk of my collection, and an imperial hold out force reliant on hit and run attacks with speeder bikes. That means imperial structures repurposed by the rebel alliance and some crashed spacecraft.
Now my absolute dream table would be one that combines X-Wing and Legion with the Legion board being able to the lowered and covered by a clear surface to get the feeling that you are in close orbit to the planet. That way I could play X-Wing and still benefit from the work I put into the terrain and probably set up models visually. But such a thing would need to be a permanent setup, which is even less likely given that I don't have space to even store modular game board tiles. Or to set up a standard X-Wing mat.

I was actually thinking if they make a Scum And Villainy faction that a Sarlaac Pit would be a hilarious Heavy Unit. (ya know, a big model that can start out like 12 inches out of the Deployment Zone. It'd be stationary but it'd attack anything that got too close to it.)

Would there be a special High Ground rule on that playmat?
i would love to have something like this, but i dont know if FFG or any website will sell the items.. I probably cant recreate a planet or map ..

I think the key is to start small. Get yourself a mat, large piece of fabric (felt works well) or board to paint up. Then get bits of scenery gradually. Plenty of online stores and LGS sell trees, hills, sci-fi buildings, at a wide range of quality/price. You can start making many of these yourself for much cheaper, and again there are loads of tuition videos and articles to help at various skill levels. I would definitely suggest buying trees if you want them. There's no decent, cheap, easy way of making trees that I've come across!
Think my board is going to b Scarif themed. I'm certainly going to paint my Rebels in Scarif/Rogue One colours.

I'm with you on this one. I like the oasis tropical island feel that is depicted on Scarif.
I like the Scarif idea. Our dining table is already painted a light blue...would probably be easier to convert to a Scarif battle on the fly, but doesn't go well with how I wanted to paint my minis (Rebels in pilot jumpsuits under their coats, like Wraith squadron or something). Then again, why would Luke and Vader be on Scarif? ...might have to do this...

Because the empire has a number of datavaults on tropical like planets with plenty of beaches? Where do you expect the Shore (leave) troopers to be stationed?

Sold to That Blasted Semophlange!!
Edited by CheekSorry, but not a fan of those printed terrain mats, not when Legion finally gives players / collectors the perfect opportunity to fashion their own gaming boards. By buying a play mat, you're missing out on the fun.
you can use the mat as the base then build pieces to be on top like hills and structures.

That said, yes, I'm spinning up for some Star Wars themed terrain items for my table.
One option for modular tables is the tablescape products by secret weapon. The boards are 1'x1' and resin cast, leaving only painting and flocking for you to do if you don't want to spend too much time making the tiles from scratch. Just an idea.
Am currently building my own gaming table specifically for Legion and wanted to share this video on how to do it on a budget, with ease. (I also posted this in another thread, but feel its more appropriate in this one?)

I also had sullust in mind. Looks..
... with the rocks and lava.
But I think I wouls go with the walker assault map, a smaller part of it, of course. But the imperial hangar or the shuttle landing site overarching the battlefield would be so nice..
I'm going to make a game mat using the method already posted elsewhere of a rocky/mountainous type planet (so grey gravel type with occasional bits of grass) and then currently planning on making terrain pieces that go on top like:
Crashed Tie-Fighter
Rebel/Smuggler Base (One or two largish rectangular buildings (like Chopper Base from Rebels) with a watchtower, turret emplacement and lots of crates and the like scattered around the next piece)
Landspeeder Landing pad (Found a cheap Revell Snowspeeder kit in 1:48 scale so going to paint it with a appropriate colour scheme and put it on a landing pad with various bits of tech scattered around)
Rocks
Ancient Ruins (Planet I'm thinking of is Asmeru which has a vanished civilisation prior to human colonisation)
Various barricades/other ruins
Possibly a farmed field like in Rogue Ones opening
That's the plan anyway, hopefully starting next month as the wife is away for a week so will have some time to fill!

You are right, a landing platform would be a great feature for variety. I also went ahead thinking more about a possible table, and I'd want it to be modular. If they go with 3x6 for the standard table size, 8 1.5x1.5 tiles would make for a flexible table. The layout from which the table is designed (the default, kind of) could be the roughly ravine-ish structure the walker assault map uses.
To make the table more playable, all elevations would be stepped so there are no issues with balancing miniatures on slopes.
It is such a great setting. Awesome geology, space for tons of imperial installations like turbolasers and bunkers, crashed and intact spaceships...I really would like to do this.

Also have re-thought and planned a bit using photoshop. I think I have to ditch the landing platform and also go for a modular design. But because I want to store the tiles in ikea boxes (the ones for kallax) they will be 30 cm x 30 cm. If I find another storage solution fast, I will also go for 45 x 45
