Star Wars: Obi-Wan Spin-Off
Hello There!
I hope Macgregor reprises his role, it would give him a chance to be in a Star Wars movie with a coherent story.
He was my bright spot in the prequels performance wise so I'd like to see him reprise the role.

He was in talks as far as I know. He was psyched up when he was asked a while ago and said yes he wanted to play him again. This time I don't think the script will let him down.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this.
Ugh...
I feel the Prequels should have focused way more on Obi wan and his relationship with Anakin, rather than that of Anakin and Padme. However that isn't the prequels only problem, those could fill several threads.
I wonder what Ben Kenobi could do on Tatooine to fill a whole film probably involves protecting Luke.
It's a whole planet and I am pretty sure there are a couple stories to tell and conflicts a wayward weary Jedi could get themselves wrapped up in....

Their is nothing in canon or non canon to suggest he didn't leave Tatooine for a short while!
But his whole part in the master plan to defeat the Sith is to protect and train Luke so leaving Tatooine makes no sense unless Luke get grabbed by pirates or something. I was hoping for a movie covering the major offensive the rebellion launched after Yavin. D:
Or maybe something involving his romance with the princess of Mandalore, can't remember her name.
In the show Clone Wars it is only suggested, and Disney love stories with princess to save. That was probably as he was a young padawan, even before The Phantom Menace
Maybe this movie will finally address the age old question of: "Who thought it was a good idea to have Luke use 'Skywalker' as his last name when hiding out on the planet his father grew up on?"
I won't hold my breath ![]()

Duchess Satine Kryze.
While I would love to see more of the adventures of Satine and Obi-Wan, I'm not sure i'd be super excited about seeing a movie with Obi-Wan as a padawan. However that would mean having good ol' Qui-Gon Jinn back, so I'm torn.

The Qui-Gon character is one of my faves, but he's so tied to Liam Neeson...I can't think of a single young actor who could convey that sense of command and compassion.
I'll be thrilled to see Ewan in a movie between E3 and E4...he's the right age (with a few prosthetics) and he's always been a good actor.

Well, he wasn't hiding, they didn't know about him until he was an adult and had left Tatooine.
Maybe bumping into a Skywalker on Tatooine is like tripping over a 'Wang' in China.....

The book Kanobi was a good story but hardly one that would translate to film as an action adventure, unless you'd want to go the low key Logan type storytelling. That could work but I doubt Disney would make such a film.

It was explained in the EU by the greatest of all jedi, Corran Horn.
During an argument he told luke that OB1 wasn't a great master he was just using Luke. he hid his sister away and changed her identity but Luke was going to be allowed to enter the imperial academy with the name skywalker. Luke was set up by OB1.

I think they could still get Liam Neeson to do it.
And by "command and compassion" do you mean constantly breaking/bending the jedi code?
He's the oprah of force persuasion. "You get persuaded, and you get persuaded, everyone gets force persuaded!" Personally that is one of the reasons that I like Qui-gon, as from my perspective he seems to be often pushing back against the jedi dogma turning toward greyness.

At least they cut the bit in the original script where he stole a part from Watto and then told Anakin "We had greater need for it than he did."
