Do we know yet any army building rules beside unit types and points? Do you think there will be different types of detachments that require a minimum number of unit types for bonus abilities like in 40k?
Army Building
Yeah, hers a page floating around somewhere. There's no bonuses, but the structure is very 40K.
Here it is.
Do you think they'll have minor characters as unit upgrades as you can only have two commanders?
Entirely possible, but nobody knows right now. I'd like to see that though.
I could easily see some characters being used as support, special or heavy units.
Chewie for example could be one of those, or R2-D2, or Imperial Officers, or Boba Fett.
I could see that. Fett (or most other Bounty Hunters for that matter), R2 and the like aren't at all "commanders". Makes perfect sens putting them in other slots tbh.

Her is my prediction for the rogue one team:
Jynn Erso: support, doesn't want to be here. Compulsory move towards the closest board edge on turns 2 and 3.
Casian Andor: special forces, sniper unit. Kinda dodgey(in more ways than one.)
K-2SO: special forces. Melee heavy hitter, high hp, low block chance.
Chirrut Imwe: support, cannot die until he has made it to an objective token(can take damage though.) Compulsory move straight towards the closest objective token.
Baze Malbus: heavy, ranged heavy hitter, can only die from blast damage.
U-wing: support, troop tansport, can start the game loaded(with troops) and off the board.
Bistan: upgrade, u-wing only, gives it a Fixed: side machine gun.
I could see Commander attachments, Han with Chewie, Luke with R2 (or C3P0) none mandatory, but an optional add-on kinda like the specialist weapons to normal units. Imperial commanders could get a Death Trooper unit attachment, or Royal Guard (Vader and The Emperor.)
Cassian with enter rogue one squad member name here, in fact, one of Cassians abilities could be taking multiple attachments.
Leia could have an elite Alderaanian guard, or her pilot friend (I forgot her name.)
Bounty Hunter could be attachments to almost any Imperial Commander.
Etc.

Thanks for this. It looks like there are no detachments, just that a minimum of one of each unit type is mandatory for each army.
Not one of each....only commanders (minimum of 1) and Corps (minimum of 3) are mandatory.
The rest are optional and limited in total number.
