Little Improvements for AF2/Quasar/Gladiator

By >kkj, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Nothing too special, just added some lights from windows and painted the hangar bays. Oh and i totally made up that AF2s hangar bays, don't know what those vetral extenders actually are.

Nicely done.
What paint(I assume it is paint and not a light mod) did you use for the AF2 "windows"?

A cold white.

with so much windows, it's no war vessel, it's a pleasure cruiser :D In my opinion, the command bay of the Mk II is on the brown part of the "stand"

on a side issue (and having spent some time in a real-life military ship), I've always been astonished by the size of the transparsteel bays of the movie's ISD, so much defensive weakness!

but well done, a fast way to single out your ships if there is one!

If I may ask, in what manner do you think a MkII can land? (it does not is an easy way to answer, but still)

I used a dazzling kind of white from "Revell" (a german company) on one of them and used a small white permanent marker on the second AF2. Both work equally good, but the marker is much faster. I used Revell colors on all of my ships and squadrons so far, but changed to Citadel now, since Revell colors are not water based and require a kind of toxic solvent to clean your pencils. So yeah, just buy a small permanent marker, it's the easiest way.

@gounour Despite all the hate for the ship i really like the AF2, both in design and function. I kinda like the "cruise vessel" style of capital ships with all the thousands of windows... really shows the scale of the ships! Regarding the weakness of having command bridge windows, i guess there are some things that a tactical display just cant show and Star Wars Tactics and Ships are based off WW2 anyway, so yeah sorry no Battlestar Galactica style CICs and Battleship armor :D And dont forget, in the Star Wars Universe most ships rely mostly on their shields (and plot armor).

If i had to guess, i would say the AF2 is a completely in space constructed ship and unable of landing on planets, although i think it still can fly through a atmosphere via its repulsorlifts. I think a special landing pad would be needed for the AF2, kind of like a dry dock where the vertical fin fits into some sort of shaft. Funny to think about it :) Still love the design of it.

BTW, here's another pic of the rear section which reminds me of a hotel :D The whole "pleasure cruiser" thing won't get out of my head haha.

"Travel the farest places in the rim, the deadliest battlefields of the galactic civil war and experience the most dashing escapes from the Imperial Navy from the view of our rear balconies! Of course outfitted with the newest recycled blackmarted second hand prototype shield generators to ensure your safety. Travel with Ragtag Rebels Spacelines, for the different kind of thrilling tourism!"
