Force Friday

By Patteous, in Star Wars: Legion

With the new article teasing some new product to be released on Force Friday, what do you think it is? Maybe Legion related? I hope so. I just want to read the rule book at this point.

2 years ago it was a new core set for X-Wing with brand new ships of TFA. So I think it'll be a new product with Last Jedi label for X-Wing to sell right now.

I dont think that will be related with Legion - they will be showing new things in Q4, if relase is in Q1 of 2018. They need to bulid up hype before game comes out - now it would be to fast, and hype could die...

Rumor is that is gonna be Destiny related.. I hope for X-Wing though

I've said it elsewhere, but my guess is a deck building game.

Imperial Assault app!

It's 30ish USD and comes in a box. I don't think it's the IA app, or Legion related. Force Friday is pretty mainstream so, either TLJ RPG box, 2 player Destiny Starter (who cares, unless it's their official starter going forward?), or something X-wing related. I did hear whispers of a card game. If it's a deck building game, let's hope it's a good one. They already reskinned CIA vs KGB... Maybe they'll retheme Blood Bowl Team Manager as a form of Sabacc. :P

SW version of WHQ adventur card game.

IMO pod racers were one of the coolest things of the prequel trilogy... Imagine pod racers in X-Wing scale in a boxed set with a set of rules similar the the Mario kart variant of X-Wing maybe accompanied by modular cardboard tracks... damnit I should 3d print this and do it myself!

The race itself was fun, but the narrative was a dead end, the race has to end with Anikan in first place or the movie ends.

As a game you could make a variation of Galaxy Trucker, Circus Maximus and many other racing games where you cheat your luck.

We don't know for sure what it is, but there is no doubt that it is related to the Last Jedi, or they would have announced it during Gencon.

In the article, they say that it is a new product. But do they mean new product as in an entirely new game system, or new product as in an expension to a new product?

In their current line of Star Wars games, I could see 3 getting something from the Last Jedi: X-Wing, Destiny, RPG.

RPG: Less likely, they already have the Force Awaken beginner game and Last Jedi start right after episode 7, so what could it really bring to the table? Also, unless things has changed, FFG has limited information concerning the new movie. Just look at Poe in the second Core Set of X-Wing that was sold during a Force Friday, they had to revisit him a year later to give him a higher PS.

X-Wing: We know that the Last Jedi fighters will be announced during Force Friday and added to Wave XII. They did it with Force Awaken ships and then next year with Rogue One ships. Question is, will they do a Last Jedi Core Set? In my opinion, very unlikely. That would mean 3 Core Set for the same game. It's overkill.

Star Wars Destiny: We know that there will be a new Base Set each year. We have very high doubt that this year it will be related to Last Jedi. It could really be it. But at the same time, it seems early to get it.

Oh my. This is the only thing I would want as much as/more than some new X-Wing stuff. That game was excellent, and was the most brutal casualty in the great license war of '16.

I only played it a couple of times but it was a heap of fun. I will definitely buy a SW version.

Perhaps too soon, but maybe a game based on Fury of Dracula 3rd Edition mechanics but putting a SW: Last Jedi theme (or at least a SW theme of some kind) on it?

There are some rumors floating around that it is Star Wars Destiny related.

A 30 USD boxed Destiny product? If so, I am also down for that as it will probably be another starter product.

Product number support the new Destiny Starter theory too:

SWD04: Spirit of Rebellion
SWD05: Two player playmat
SWD06: ????
SWD07A: Empire at War (coming out september 14)

What is SWD06? And while we're at it, why the 'A' at the end of Empire at War product number?

We know there will be a new Starter set per year, it might be it. Although I thought it would come out with the next Base Set.

Not to dispute the point overmuch, but the Star Wars RPG has numerous missing products if you follow the product numbers. Not saying it can't be Destiny, but missing product like that isn't unusual.

Destiny and X-Wing (new A-Wing and Tie Silencer related with new film, maybe something more)

Wasn't the teaser suggesting it was another new product?

I still fully expect tlj ties in for several existing games, but don't think the announcemet has much to do with anything existing

According to my FLGS, they could only order a small amount. I think they had an option of 3 or 6 products. Unless they mean 'shipping crate' when they say product, neither of those is enough to sell to the masses, so it's probably some kind of demo.

Destiny starters.

Destiny, Xwing, and Armada all have missing product numbers.

Plus, they totally said it is going to be a new product. It won't be destiny related.

That's not to say that they won't *announce* anything related to these games Friday, but the new $30 product is something completely new.
