Forget Thrawn in XWing, Raddus would be baller

By Lobokai, in X-Wing

Well don't forget Thrawn. Armada might have somehow one upped XWing on the Gunboat (so happy) release. I mean Thrawn, Vader boarding party (that's right), Chimaera with paint job, and a wicked rebel MC75 pack too that has a certain Mon Cal admiral in it

Raddus in Armada lets you delay deploy 1 (2 with the right title) ship right next to a friendly ship. That would be pretty nifty in X-Wing too.

Maybe too nifty?

Admiral Radish is a hero for sure. I'd love to see him as a huge ship only crew that throws other friendly ships under the bus for a sweet gain...

maybe if you bump a ship which hasnt activated you can take damage to push it to the end of your maneuver template and stress it?

P.s. that dude obviously died terribly in an imperial prison cell

Raddus doesn't really help the imperials tho

That's my fish!

I'd love to see an official Raddus crew upgrade but, in the meantime, I made my own totally OP Raddus for my Battle of Scarif scenario. He'll have to ride in on my 19-1/2 inch 3D printed Nebulon-B, however, since there's no way the Profundity will fit on a 6x3 mat in X-wingish scale.

Anyway, his ship sets up last during setup (surprise attack), he CAN use Enigine Booster to overlap ships (ramming speed) and all crits suffered from ramming are converted to regular damage (strategic ramming).

The Nebulon-B is gonna be a wrecking ball. Good thing the Imps spawn 3 TIEs every round - 2 from the Shield Gate and 1 from Director Krennic (ARE WE BLIND? DEPLOY THE GARRISON!).

I could see Raddus coming as crew of a future Hammerhead epic ship.

"Call up a HWK-290- I have an idea!"

Let Raddus introduce the Kamikaze fighter into X-wing?

Raddus, Thrawn, Krennic, Sato. . .

We need them all in XWM to add a command structure element to play, especially in Epic!

Commander Sato: rebel only. when defending, if the attacker has no friendly ships at range 1 they may add a number of crits to their roll equal to you hull and shield values combined. you may not perform maneuvers or actions

We can run up to a full squadron of any given fighter in Epic Play. At that point, it makes sense to have some kind of command structure. A corvette + a supporting capital ship, a couple large ships and a squadron of fighters versus a similar opposing force demands at least two opposing commanding officers. Remember, Thrawn didn't start his career commanding the Chimaera. In the new canon, his career begins on a Gozanti.

I'd love to have Raddus commanding a Hammerhead Corvette, Thrawn on a Gozanti, Sato in a CR-90 and Krennic barking orders from a Delta-class shuttle.

Some may say to play Armada if you want commanding officers but I prefer playing with physically large Corvettes and fighters over tiny ISDs with microscopic "squadrons". To each their own, though.

Ohh, yes Please!

I can just imagine him storming around screaming at everyone each time one of his ships gets destroyed.

PS. make sure his ability is really good and completely anti-synergises with Grand Moff Tarkin.

Tarkin can take all upgrades from Krennics ship and use them on his own.

Well, there obviously should be a command structure at any level--being lead and wingman is a command structure. Unfortunately those cards don't see much play that I can tell.

Better still would be commanders that had range-less abilities (like Palps) that helped the fighters do their job better. Then, even in 100/6, you would have to make some choices of get the command shuttle vs. deal with the fighter escort. Sorta like in Epic (concentrate fire on the Huge or deal with its fighter screen).

In different terms, this game needs more narrative play!!

Imagine this, rather than being a last-ditch tactical improvisation above Scarif, is something Raddus just does all the time.

"Hail one of the corvettes, I've had an idea!" Raddus says, for the third time this week. The communications officer sighs and tells the crew of the CR-90 Redshirt to buckle their seatbelts and put their crash helmets on.

Like Acbar saying "It's a TRAP!", he actually says it all the time.
