Mandalorian Gauntlet fighters announced!

the gauntlet isnt a fighter. its bigger than a gozanti

The Gozanti is 63.8 meters in length while the Gauntlet is 52.3 meters in length. Wouldn't call that bigger.

edit: official Star Wars website doesn't list an official gozanti length that I could find, but does say that Kom'rk (or Gaunlet) fighters are 52.3 meters in length.

wookipedia said 41.8, but i guess theres different makes or whatever, so ill concede the imperial navy one may be bigger.

its still 52 meters wide (so 1 x-wing shorter than the imperial gozanti is long, wide). aka bigger than the ghost. the ghost is already so much bigger than its base that i ussually have to remove it if it gets within range one of another ship, lest they physically overlap.

The 41.8 length is from the version of the Gozanti used by pirates during the Clone wars, not the military one used by Imperial Forces.

What a silly looking paint job on that Star Destroyer, lol. As if somebody like Thrawn would be wasting time having his star destroyer painted up like a Tijuana lowrider or some design from the example book at a low-end tattoo parlor.

Wonder if it has a bumper sticker of Calvin pissing on the Rebel phoenix.

Well, more specifically the 41.8 length was the 'best guess' length used in the EU since the Gozanti's first appearance in Episode I. It didn't get a formal length until it started being featured in 'Rebels', and so the 'canon' and 'Legends' lengths for it differ.

Fair. While the article the 41 meters comes from a Legends tagged article, it did use Clone Wars as sources for some of its info (though I don't think the length), so I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt.

The ship just seems bafflingly oversized. How do you call something bigger than a Decimator a 'starfighter'?

My issues with this ship are:

- Too large for large base, too stupid for Epic

- Aside from having a 2nd scum epic, (but it is stupid for that) it really serves no purpose. 16 hp scum ship that does what? Whirl?

- It looks stupid as ****. Imagine an imperial large based ship that would be the TIE Interceptor, scaled up. Or a Rebel X-wing the size of the Ghost.

It is one of the worst SW ship designs in my opinion. (pursuer class, and skipray are right up there with it)

Except that it´ s actually canon. And Thrawn has an art fetish, so I´ m not even suprised.

Trying to pin down sizes on star wars ships is like trying to solve a maze with no exit.

The models and sets used in the movies even change sizes from one scene to the next.

Some sort of close approximation will always be good enough to get the job done.

This is the healthiest approach, albeit one that still leaves us with a really big Fang flying around, being, uh, a crewed Aggressor, I guess?

Well the problem, as noted in discussions elsewhere, is that the groups we have as 'Scum' here in X-Wing just don't have any canonical Armada-scale ships (partial exception for the C-ROC Gozanti, which could be a small-base Armada flotilla...hardly enough to build a faction on!)

I don't see why a faction would HAVE to have huge capital ships. It could just be part of the faction's charm/identity that it always uses larger groups of smaller vessels.

Exactly. It is a picture of the ship's namesake. And Thrawn probably had the whole thing commissioned by some artist he's a fan of.

Thrawn probably conquered an entire system without firing a shot by predicting that a kick-*** paint job would over awe the local populace into surrender.

The transport looks silly at its shrunk down scale. The gauntlet would look fine shrunk down to fit on a large base.

Jar Jar Binks is actually canon too.

you can always tell who isn't watching Rebels..

so yes, Thrawn did customize his ship. his crew also wear a patch to identify themselves as from the Chimera.

I saw it. It's still stupid looking, lol. Though not watching Rebels isn't really a badge of shame. That show is a kiddie cartoon, with questionable writing and creative decisions behind it. Helicopter lightsabers yo! Be the best thing ever!

Like I said. Jar Jar is canon too. Doesn't make him great. Neither does it make any sense for a genius like Thrawn to care about petty stuff like wasting time and resources commissioning a 3,000,000 square foot (based on the size and width of a star destroyer) vanity mural for his star destroyer.

"Yes, we will get that rebel scum. But first we're going to sit in dry dock for another few months while I get my ride painted, yo.

You silly kids. Always thinking you're smarter than other people. Just accept other people don't like the same things you do.

Coming from you, that's hilarious.

What? You threw a tantrum about me not liking the banana tadpole, so I made fun of you. The fact that you didn't realize you did the same thing in that thread is not surprising.

Though, knowing that, it makes sense you like the cheesy paintjob star destroyer. You do need to work on not being a standoffish crybaby every time somebody doesn't like the little kiddie stuff you like.

Lol! No, you said people who liked the N-1 didn't have taste. That implies you think of yourself as a superior Star Wars fan to people who like what you don't. You, sir, are a troll and a hypocrite. And that you can't see it is the saddest thing I've seen in a while.

I said that after you decided to get snippy. You quoted me when nobody was talking to you, with a silly response. Then I roasted you for it. You had every chance to keep your typing fingers in check, but chose not to.

You're like Bruce Willis in Sixth Sense. You don't even realize you're the troll. If I'm superior to you, it's a matter of fact, not of my arrogant perception. The wise street philosophers the Youngbloodz once said "Don't start no ****, it won't be no ****." If you know you have the unpopular opinion ("The prequels aren't awful") don't try to push it on others and not expect a little ribbing in return. I said I didn't like it. I didn't say anthing derogatory about anyone who did like it. Don't argue with me over an aesthetic-based subjective statement, because that's when you open yourself up to getting a spanking. You're not as clever as I am, and you definitely aren't much of a wordsmith. You're just kinda thin-skinned and easily rattled. The Internet may not be a good place for you. You need to play that Penguin game.

Now it's even sadder.

Trust me, dude. Your attempts to "burn" me are as lame as you seem to think my response were.

Edited by SabineKey

You can only imagine how that makes me feel, kiddo. If I bother you so much, just block me like that other crybaby did. Otherwise, please scrape up some of your dignity and just stop replying to me. Your sad attempts at the moral high ground when you started off this thread trying impotently to insult me is laughable. Heck, you couldn't even do it in one attempt and had to edit.

No, I edited out an inflammatory comment, because it wasn't worth it.

I stand by what I have said. You have yet to say anything to disprove my claims or thoughts on you. In fact, you've only made them stronger. If you find that insulting, that's on you.

Guys, please...you're both lame.

And the Chimaera is metal AF. It's the van with a wizard spray painted on the side of the Star Wars universe.

So.. to quote Kitster; "That's so wizard!"

With a little time to cool off, I'll accept that. It wasn't worth the time or effort.

Pretty sure I'm still going to trade someone my 'bad-prison-tattoo-class-Star-Destroyer' for a regulation one, once I get my copy of this expansion...
