Organizing all the information in the Chimaera expansion. NOW WITH MC-75 AND UPDATED

By Visovics, in Star Wars: Armada

Just like all, I can't stop thinking on how awesome that is, so this is to all who want to speculate on stuff and who can pixel read effectively!!

So seems we have18 upgrades.

*4 officers (Governor Pryce, Captain Brunson, Instructor Goran seems to give counter 1, Taskmaster Grint, can't read what he says but it's a decent wall of text) (thanks @RogueLieutenant for the characters!)

2 defensive retrofits (1 face down and Early Warning System, once again the bad resolution and great need of strong glasses makes impossible for me to decypher any word)

Darth Vader boarding action - allows to discard 1 upgrade that is not the commander from a ship, titles included (E.P.I.C!)

3 Fleet commands ( Entrapment Formation, INTENSIFY FIREPOWER and a facedown)

3 titles (Sovereign, 2 copies of the generic Seventh Fleet Star Destroyers, and a facedown, obviously the beloved Chimaera)

2 admirals (Our lord and saviour Grand Admiral Thrawn and a facedown one possibly Piett? Pellaeon?)

1 card on the top left that I am not sure if it's a title, but is likely to be the one and only, the ship of the expansion, the beloved Chimaera

Card on top left, hidden back- Experimental Retrofit? Faceup right next of same type? --Good catch from ovi and GK --> could be weapon upgrades, which seem to be lacking despite there being an aggressive refit for the ISD... HAR...

2 Gauntlet Troop transports, 7 hull, rogue and new keyword, only 1 defense token for Gar Saxon

Black anti-ship on Gar it seems! (Credits to @Thrindal)

*extra on each officer: Brunson- while something at distance of an obstacle, spend defense token step, something this card, cancel something. Scatter like effect for large ships? ECM type effect for all tokens? while attacking negate a defense token effect (would come ueful for ships with double tokens)?

Pryce - some type of limitation(medium or large only), after something deployment, something relating to tokens, If something at round and effect at end after all of something

Goran - While effect, heavy keyword, counter 1, some type of other keyword I can't decypher seems to be a Dengar-like effect for heavy squadrons

Grint - After something deployment, can read card and 3. Choose 1 command (token?) matching command with token something happens

Now complete credits to @hulldown for providing the Hi-res image on the MC-75 (and the Chimaera one, additions after that in bold)

MC-75 - 13 cards

No need to talk of commander

4 Titles apparently (Mon Calamari........, Profundity), Mon Calamari something seems to be lacking unique dot, or it's barely edging the card in front and not visible, one facedown

Wide-Arc, long name, could be ordnance or turbolaser? Offensive retro?

Heavy Ion Emplacements, screams AA, Ion?Offensive or defensive retro?

3 Officers (Bail Organa, General Draven) Bail seems like same text layout as Brunson, must activate first, opposites? Draven interacts with squadron keyword Intel, something relating to colour, dice added?changed?

Gunnery Team (Caitken and Shollan) While attacking exhaust this card, do something with any number to 1? 10?

Dual upgrade (Jyn Erso) Standard boarding procedure, involves 2 raid tokens, maybe something that relates to stealing?

Defensive Retrofit (Early warning system) seems like text changed since Chimaera image was made. relates to obstruction in some way

Anyone with info just say and I'll add to this, I am regularly updating this, probably done at least 10 times already

Time to start putting this all on the Wiki...

Seems to be a lack of weapon upgrades, which is a little odd considering the Cymoon 1 has two turbolaser slots and the Kuat ion cannon and ordnance slots.

Pretty sure that's a title above Captain Sloane.

Also I'm guessing this comes with 6 command dials, rather than just the 3 in the picture. Unless they're assuming we all have enough spares to go with Trawn.

2 gauntlet troop transports.

75 has 9 hull

I'm waiting for FFG to have an article for the MC-75 with a fan of cards to make a similar thread, right now we don't have much, so I'm focussing on the Chimaera here :) although I did not know it had 9, I'll remeber that for the future if need be!

There is another unique ISD title, not the Chimera.

My guess is a lot of the upgrades are unique because it's a character model. It looks like it's intended to be a one time buy unless you're dying for more of the squadrons. It comes with 3 of each ship card so this feels more like the Imperial Veterans packs from X-Wing rather than a brand new ship.

Sovereign, already added it

I wonder what the fleet command card will be for the isd2 cymoon 1 refit.

Also on those lines it seems that some of the generic stuff you get will also be multiple copies. Like the other face down defensive upgrade is probably another "Early warning" copy. In the Hammerhead previews they didn't face-up the duplicates.

Too me it looks like four title cards. Sovereign the two dupes and a facedown which is probably "Chimaera."

Although I think that most duplicates are not being shown, the article says 17 upgrades, and there are 18 cards in the spread, of which the only repeated is the Seventh Fleet, so I think it's a new one

Ok, now I see it

I was just noting the claimed 17 while the photo is showing 18.

My bet on the facedown admiral is that it will be Pellaeon- Thrawns protege in the novels and the guy who eventually took over command of the Chimaera after [spoilers].

Although I am sad that Pallaeon and Rukh don't appear as crew upgrades so that you can fly them with Thrawn. Oh well, still super excited for this expansion! :D

I am hesitant on this, because they seem to be taking the rebels cartoon as main inspiration, I wonder why Eli Vanto from the book isn't there, he's always by Thrawn's side and basically his apprentice on the strategic thought like Thrawn

2 defensive retrofits (1 hidden and Early Warning

The hidden one surely is Early Warning System, it's the same art of the card of the LCG with that name. In that game, the card has a reactive effect when the opponent's turn begins.

There's a 5th defense token hidden under the contain. I wonder if it's because of an upgrade card and just which one it is.

Probably for the Gauntlet Fighters

Ohhh.... yeh..

Yep, it's actually there for the ace

I think there will only be one imperial commander, and that the face down card is a mistake of some sort. In the second paragraph of the article it says:

Quote

Even as its new ships, squadrons, and upgrades blast their way onto the battlefield, Armada Wave VII provides two new commanders—one Rebel and one Imperial—who are both more than capable of leading their forces to victory.

Anyone else kinda hope the face down admiral is Gallius Rax?

They also didn't include them in the spread, unless they were part of the task force title. So I'm inclined to think that the face down is another new one.

Perhaps because Eli wasn't around in Rebels.

I know, this is how I realized it was based around Rebels.
