Helping create a squad for a new player

By Gwigre., in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello!

I'm new to X-Wing and I would like to have suggestions for a squad list.

I don`'t have a lot of ships and I did not find any online site that can filter the list from the set you possess. Does one exist?

Anyway, if someone would like to pitch ideas, I have:

  • First Core Set
  • TFA Core Set
  • Millenium Falcon
  • A-Wing

I'm looking for a casual rebel squad and my main goal is to have something fun to play (even if I loose more than I win). Having some iconic characters in the squad would also be appreciated.

Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard, I only really use the following online squad builder:

http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build#

It doesn't have a filter option for the expansion set that I know of. However, it does show you which expansions the upgrade card from on the side when you're selecting the upgrade. Off-hand if you want a squad list with icon characters you go with the following:

[36PT] Poe Dameron (PS8 Version)
R2-D2
Veteran Instincts

[62PT] Han Solo
Luke Skywalker
Chewbacca
Millennium Falcon (Evade Version)
Engine Upgrade

I built the list on using icon characters and ease of play for new players based on what you have. Can regenerate shields for Poe. Luke gives Han another shot opportunity if he misses the first. Chewbacca for durability. You can either evade or boost (get out of opposing firing arc/range 3) the Falcon to help mitigate damage. You can swap out Chewbacca for Push the Limit and Nien Nunb if you're feeling up to it. Also, you can add Weapons Guidance to Poe for the occasional circumstances for the extra offense when no is able to shoot at you.

Are you and your friends OK with using Proxy upgrades??? If So, Below is a fun list to try. Also another good option is to load up Han next to your favorite ACE (Poe, Luke, Tycho) or Chewie with 2 A's after you get Rebel Aces (if you like the A's this is a near must)

Luke & Poe - Copy (123)

Poe Dameron (41) - T-70 X-Wing - Predator (3), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Autothrusters (2)

Luke Skywalker (36) - X-Wing - Expertise (4), R2-D2 (4), Integrated Astromech (0)

Green Squadron Pilot (23) - A-Wing - Juke (2), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Snap Shot (2)

OR (take whichever A-wing you think fits your play style, Juke A can push more damage, PTL A is a better blocker/survives longer IMO)

Green Squadron Pilot (23) - A-Wing - Push The Limit (3), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Wired (1)

ALSO: Aurora SquadBuilder is what I use, for IPhone, and you can set it up with just your sets (it will gray out what you don't have). That being said, feel free to print out from other builders (I think that one will print out card text) and proxy cards

Thanks guys! That will give me a good starting point!

After playing a couple of game with those build, I suppose I will be more at ease to experience change myself!

If you have an android, there is an x-wing app that does a great job, it had a picture of the blue rebel symbol, I believe star tactics. I use it for building out of ONLY my collection (there is a button to turn that off as well if you're looking for things to buy). The websites above are best especially for printing sheets and such, but the app gives me a little more portability when I'm just dinking around with ideas. below are probably the top three builders/generators online as I'm aware.

I was more thinking of a site that list other players squad where you can filter them to see only the one you are able to build. I've already seen that for collectible card game (Game of Throne I think?) and it was a big help for new player!
But thanks the same, I'll take a look at those app.
