Doubly so that its not happening.
Its merely going to be "Intensify Firepower!"
An unexpected announcement especially after a no-show at Gen Con just last week, but I'm glad the cat is finally out of the bag.
Really excited about this wave.....
...but also pretty disappointed that they just did a repaint of the current ISD model for the Chimaera exp set. WHY!? I explicitly made my case to FFG that we need a new ISD-1 mold for this. There's enough new detail on the ISD-1 that is distinct from the ISD-II to justify a new mold. If they could do it for TFA Falcon(X-Wing), why not this? What a huge missed opportunity, and to think I put the effort to portray the Chimaera in the ISD-I class, as it appears in Rebels, on the cover. Sigh....
My only hope at this point is that the actual physical model is of an ISD-I and the one in the preview article is just a graphical error, but that seems unlikely:(
Sorry for the rant.
I'm not gonna leave this on a sour note so I will say that aside from my disappointment with the repainted ISD, the rest of this wave looks friggin sweet! Thrawn ability is different from what I imagined but still awesome; 2 dials 3 times per game for every ship sounds powerful. Time will tell if his cost is justified but at the moment it seems fair.
The 2 new ISD variants are great! Kuat refit is a fiercer close range brawler that can carry ordnance(APT or ER) and has a defensive slot. Cymoon is pretty much what I expected, an ISD with a fleet command slot. Its also a long range beast which is amazing. Lack of defensive slot is not an issue with Tua around. Oh and is that an extra mystery Commander? Oh my.....
Mandalorian sqds is just icing on the cake. Looking forward to see what they do.
The Profundity model looks amazing and Raddus' ability sounds pretty sweet. Would be really interesting to see a Surprise! Raddus/Profundity fleet at work with Hypersapce Assault; set 3 ships aside to come in later. Shame that we didn't get to see the MC75 variants.

Who wants to trade a "standard" ISD model for the Chimaera model? Just model for model
blasphemer ![]()
As stupid as it was not to release the prototypes at GenCon (I kept stopping by a couple times each day to see if they had put out anything new), what a cool new set of additions to the game!
Not sure if it's been said yet in this thread, but:
"Stop fooling yourselves sheeple, Armada is obviously dead!"

I am very pleased with Thrawn's ability. It strikes me as exactly the sort of thing he should do. I could even see it being worthwhile with two dials, but time will tell.
I feel the choice to release additional variants and titles on the ISD chassis was a strong one. A bit disappointing that it isn't an alternate sculpt, but I also understand how much money FFG saves not making new molds.
Very excited for Gar Saxxon and the Gauntlet Fighter. I am likewise expecting some form of boarding action with them.
I just wanted to say thank you for Thrawn. It single-handily makes me want to play the game again! Now if only we can do something about these squadrons... ![]()

Of course it's Gar Saxon. I thought it'd be Fen Ray, but Saxon makes so much more sense for Imps.
Still, be cool if we were to get some of the rebel Mandalorians - Sabine, Fen etc.
Maybe, they are part of the profundity expansion?

@HERO Honestly, post nerf, the game balance for squadrons seems okay at first glance. Everything else also got a huge power (creep?) increase. QBT, ER, BT Avenger. Ackbar returns also, with less squadrons. Theoretically, the game is in a better place. I don't have the data to say if that's stastically true or not, but its a hunch.

What are the odds they meant to release at Gencon but didn't have the models in hand to do so? I don't get the reasoning that led them to just drop the article a few days later if it was planned.

I'm also really interested to know why they couldn't announce anything at all at Gencon, but less than a week later we get the full Wave announcement.
Its very odd as its neither Gen Con or Force Friday which would have been ideal times for announcements, also what is odd is the lack of info and spread pic of the Profundity pack
Hey, the unshown thing could be the Dornian Gunship, to give the Profundity something to poop out
I'd just like to say that for me this is the best wave I have seen since Wave 2. Really looking forward to it.

Too soon I think.
I would say is the most thematic wave though.

It's not even out yet, and I've already been able to convince at least one previously-resistant friend into starting Armada just by showing them the picture of the Chimera and saying that yes, Thrawn is in it.

Yeah as much as I struggle with the disparity between Thrawn vs Tarkin and Leia, I am glad they have made him suitably overpowered. It will definitely fire up interest I think. I think fighting against him will feel like he is ten moves ahead of you. Which is how it should be.
I'm not yet convinced that Thrawn's ability is actually overpowered. Potent, yes, but the impact of an extra command dial (since they cannot be doubled up) only allows so much.
Definitely makes Tarkin less exciting, but I wonder how Thrawn's limits will play I'm as well.
I don't really see Thrawn as particularly overpowered, either. Much like Tarkin, the ability to provide action economy becomes far more valuable the higher the command values of your ships are, which by default makes him more useful for low activation, big ship fleets.
It is a powerful ability, but one that is boosting a fleet type that is in need of such a boost. He gives far less benefit to something like an MSU list, for example - such fleets will likely get more mileage from the commanders they are already using.
Anything that provides incentives to run multiple major capital ships is a win in my book, I am already pondering how best to run a trio of ISDs with the new refits!
One thing that gets me is as Profundity and Raddus have similar principles, is Chimaera going to be something similar to Thrawn? I can't wait! JUST SHOW ME THE FULL REVEAL ALREADY
Hmm, so Chimaera title could be a flagship dishing out support in some way, such as tokens? I like that idea, it's quite flagshippy. Especially when paired with a fleet command upgrade.
